Cruising Calypso-opaque-5.png As a two-time Searay owner, first a 2000 gas 310 DA, which we have enjoyed very much, and now a 2001 diesel 400DB, I created a website and blog to post my families adventures, reviews, and tips. The site is called cruising calypso after the name of our boat. I have a companion YouTube Channel and Instagram. Please Follow, like, and subscribe. I am interested in your comments so please feel free. We are on Facebook as well.
Thanks so much.

Best of luck with all of your channels! And good luck with the sale of your 310. You should consider producing a vlog about the stresses of being a two-boat owner. :)

Hi, Thanks! Yes being a two boat owner is not all it's cracked up to be ; ). Hopefully the 310 will sell quickly. we have made a lot of upgrades to her and she has low hours. You enjoy your 400?

We have grown very fond of our 400. It was tough to move on from our 340 (loved that boat) but the 400 checks so many more boxes for us. A really great size for weekends with a family. I'm on the hairy edge of being "too much boat" for gas engines but have no regrets :)

Cool. I think 40 is a good size too. We upgraded to a 400 db and are looking forward to it. We loved our 310 but outgrew the space and the range. What Great boat though. I would think that as long as you are going to far and running the gassers for hours on end, they should be fine. Are they 7.4s? The 400 DB also came with 7.4s gassers. Ours is diesel.

I'm not sure why duration of the run would be a concern for gas engines? I only comment on the size due to the lack of authority when docking. Gas boats will have substantially smaller wheels spinning than the diesel versions...and a lot less torque.

I guess my thinking was that if the engines were working hard to push you along then a longer duration may be hard on them. Interesting you talk about handling. I follow a guy on youtube who had 400db gas boat and he found that around the dock the boat could be a handful. especially if the wind kicked up.

We do a lot of cruising so we're going to check out your Youtube channel.....we follow some Vblogs of sailboats particularly Tula's Endless Summer. We are zeroing in on the Great Loop sooner rather than later. In fact, I just posted up an opportunity to discuss folding electric bikes on CSR.
