Today we get on our first boat....we have to be at the Marine Max Delivery Center at 2 pm today... we have to go over the boat to see what was done according to the survey and what was done with our own list of fixes. Then the captain will take us out to show us what we need to know about our boat...

My question is IF there is a particular problem /s as per survey that has not been fixed and that was initially agreed on to be fixed at the closing signing last december 09,
should i not sign off on the boat and take possession today beforehand? or should i sign off and trust that they will fix it ??

If it was me it would depend on what the problem was and how expensive it would be to do it. They should have the boat ready to go and all items you have previously agreed to be resolved completed before you get there. If it is a small issue maybe they can take care of it while the paperwork is being done. Remember you are coming into the busy season with spring launches, etc. If you sign now with the hope they will take care of it later you may be disappointed.

My feeling also....i'll have to wait and see today, hopefully all the survey things will be addressed, our personal list is bendable...

Do not sign off on the purchase until all items on the puchase agreement / survey have been repaired to your satisfaction as agreed by you and the seller. This is an exciting day, don't let your enthusiasm to take possesion cloud what you and the seller agreed on last December.

Thank you......

Make sure EVERYTHING has been completed to your satisfaction before signing anything. If there are a few things to be done tell them you'll be back tomorrow to check it out again. Once you sign off, even if there is a promise to "take care of it" after you splash you may be sorry IMHO.

OK Ken....Thanks....:smt001

Just for information here, there is no need to “sign off” on anything when taking delivery of the boat. You have already signed off when you purchased it. When you signed on the dotted line back in December it became your boat. Now having said that I have purchased 3 boats in the last 5 years all from MarineMax and they did make good on everything we had agreed to. Hell they even threw in some extras, and still are a big help to me with any issue I may have. If your dealer up there is anything like ours here in Baltimore, you will be in good hands.

Have fun with your “Delivery Day”.

Thanks.....you made us smile :grin::grin::grin:

Yesterday went very smooth,Marine Max took care of all survey fix's and our own list and then did extras, we have 6 hrs of captain training though M.M. coming to us and lots of freebies...

When i first handled the throttle out in the open water it was the thrill of my life,
What power...we learn a lot yesterday at launch and have more to learn

Very happy we are....:smt038

Enjoy!

The best advice I can give would be to use this time (early in the season) to practice. Take her out in the open and get used to the shift levers and what the boat is going to do. Go forward, bring her to a complete stop, backup, and then turn her in circles just using the shift levers. After you get the feel of it, come in and find some empty slips to practice getting into. Give yourself plenty of room with no other boats around you until you feel comfortable. With a little practice like this you will be handling her like a pro!

Have fun, and above all a safe season!

Thanks Guys......:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Im trying to remember the what the captain instructed me as to what to do before launch, i wrote it all down but left it somewhere on board or ? and i cant find what i wrote to read what he said.and I want to get it right....

Does this sound right?? and if not please correct

Boat is on shore power, A/C main switch converter below deck is ON position

Upon boarding and getting underway for a short trip

Make sure main battery switch is on .located on the S.D. 310 port side lower area near the breakers behind locked hatch...

1... RUN BILGE BLOWER FOR 4 MINS

2.....GO BELOW TO ELEC PANEL AND SWITCH OFF SHORE POWER SWITCH ON RIGHT SIDE..

3 THEN SWITCH OFF A/C CONVERTER SWITCH SAME SIDE

4 SWITCH TO D/C POWER ON LEFT SIDE

5 TURN KEYS FOR PORT AND STARBOARD ENGINES

5 GO ABOVE,AND SHUT OFF BILGE BLOWER

6 START PORT AND STARBOARD ENGINES

7 WHILE WARMING ENGINES UP DISCONNECT SHORE POWER CORD

8 AFTER WARM UP AND UN-TYING BOAT GET UNDERWAY...

RETURNING AFTER TYING UP..

1 COOL DOWN ENGINES FOR 5 MINS.....SHIFT IS IN NEUTRAL.THROTTLE IS DOWN

2 AFTER COOL DOWN SHUT OFF ENGINES

3 GO BELOW AND TURN OFF KEYS PORT, AND STARBOARD

4 FLIP SWITCH FROM D/C POWER TO SHORE POWER

5 PUT A/C SWITCH ON

6 CONNECT SHORE POWER...

PUT THE MAIN BATTERY SWITCH IN OFF POSITION IF LEAVING BOAT FOR EXTENDED TIMES TO SAVE BATTERIES

SOUND RIGHT????????

Congrats on your first day of boating. I wish I got the royal treatment from Chicago Sea Ray that you received from Marine Max. Probably because mine was a brokerage deal. Enjoy your new toy and I am sure you will enjoy the relaxation that boating provides like my wife and I do.

One service you might investigate that my marina provides is a monthly fluid level check. I know the DIYs will tell you to do it yourself but you have enough on your plate this season just like I do so if it's not more than a few hundred bucks for the season have them do it.

We picked up our "new" 380DA from MM in Lindenhurst last year on Independence Day weekend. Their were several items from the survey and cosmetic issues that were not completed at pick up time. MM sent techs to our home in Freeport three times to address items including new ones that we found weeks later, all for no charge. I wouldn't worry about the SS3 crew.

YES! they have a monthly deal were looking at...Right about us having a full plate ...

Any comment on my pre- launch and post launch senario?

No worry here..

New manifolds and risers??? wow that was an expensive throw in... they must have seen something they did not like, and got it done before it lead to a majior problem.
Enjoy the boat and boating in the south shore, you will love it.

Congrats on the new boat......just a note that I learned a long time ago regarding connecting and disconnecting shore power.

You mentioned turning the AC switch on and off on the boat....

It is best to turn off the shore power at the source before disconnecting from the boat, and not to turn the power on again until the cord(s) are reconnected to the boat. I am talking about the breaker that is typically located on the power pedestal at your slip.

The reason for this is that every time you attach that cord to your boat, and the power is on, there is a spark. Doesn't sound serious, but after time, and many connections, the plug will begin to discolor, then slightly start to corrode, and then to generate heat. Next, it overheats the plug and melts.

Sorry to say, I've seen this happen on another boat, and when I checked mine, it had corroded a little. Before, I always unplugged and left the dock as quick as I could. Now, I always cut off the breaker first.
