Lateset in personal defense

What about the elderly, disabled, 100 pound female, the drugged out felon with an ax handle, or the guy against 2 or more thugs? Does a fist and a bloody nose work?
You sound just like this guy:

Not all confrontations need to have a weapon involved. In fact, there are thousands of violent crimes against innocent victims every day resulting in murder of the innocent victim. Here are a few for you to read, where the innocent victim was given an equal chance of survival:

I'll never know what it is to be a 100 lb. female (6'-4" 300lbs) but I have been in fights with more than one assailant. I'm not saying a gun is never the weapon of choice in a confrontation, I'm just saying 99.99999% of the time its not. The post I'm highlighting is one of those times when if nothing else just STFU and there is no confrontation. If you just let the drunk alone he never feels like confronting you. My dad always said "don't let your bulldog mouth get your chihuahua a$$ in trouble". So in my humble opinion if you start a fight you better be able to finish it, without resorting to firearms.

Most of these gunfights are started over nothing more than pride, testosterone and alcohol. Using a firearm is for real, no go backs. As soon as you brandish it you better be ready to pull that trigger and face the consequences. This and so many other discussions are so flippant in their encouragement to use firearms. Its not cool, its not fun and I can tell you it will scar you for life.

I think its only fair to tell you that my wife and I have concealed carry permits and yes sometimes we are armed. I look at it as a very weighty responsibility and to be honest it frightens me that so many see it as a casual convenience, like carrying a pocket knife or something.

OldSkool, I never made it to the boat today, but I will try again tomorrow. I did sell a mint M1 Garand tho....let's talk about the folding knife:grin:

Yep, You can tell when its winter layup for most.

Come on, why can't we migrate that discussion to CSR so we can all participate?

Nope, that's not something I want to open up on CSR. It's kind of a fun thing between Packdaddy and me because we go back and forth about our political differences.

BTW, Packdaddy, I agree 100% with what you said in our post #70. <<Wow, I never thought I'd be saying that!>> When I was a cop and having fun chasing bad guys around I was able to defuse most situations with a little common sense talk.

We do have a good time, don't we? Wait until I get you up here and on a cruise to Canada for three weeks  We'll put a hurtin' on the scotch

Three weeks? When we come it will be for at least four months. And forget the scotch....you'd better stock up on some good tequila.

Very nice looking knives Bill.

Can't order one from you, wouldn't get through Customs! I have bought a couple of swords, we are not allowed to buy sharpened ones, and in at least one state, you have to apply for a collectors licence......had something to do with gang violence a few years back, where opposing gangs were meeting in parks for sword fights. Apparantley a few lost limbs and the odd on lost a life....shame evolution was working.

We are not allowed to carry knives at all, unless for work purposes, have often wondered how I would go if my fishing gear was ever inspected

I pictured Australians as the Crocodile Dundee Type. Rifle slung to the shoulder and bowie knife hanging from your belt.
In Canada you need a knife in the woods and handguns are prohibited.

Here in Pennsylvania, US, the laws are so loose that each county within the state has their own law.

This is the PA state law guide lines.

"Offensive weapons." Any bomb, grenade, machine gun, sawed-off shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches, firearm specially made or specially adapted for concealment or silent discharge, any blackjack, sandbag, metal knuckles, dagger, knife, razor or cutting instrument, the blade of which is exposed in an automatic way by switch, push-button, spring mechanism, or otherwise, any stun gun, stun baton, taser or other electronic or electric weapon or other implement for the infliction of serious bodily injury which serves no common lawful purpose.

Offense defined.--A person commits a misdemeanor of the first degree if, except as authorized by law, he makes repairs, sells, or otherwise deals in, uses, or possesses any offensive weapon.

Yet if you go to the city of Philadelphia, Pa you may spend the night in jail and see the magistrate for carrying and sidearm or a knife, pocket or otherwise.

Dang, some of you guys live in pretty restrictive areas. Washington is an open carry state and the laws here say that a law enforcement official (Sheriff, Chief of Police, etc.) MUST issue a concealed weapons permit unless there is some strong reason not to.

I think I like our way better.

Ian, it sounds like your politicians are pretty much like ours. A few gang bangers get together and cut each other up with swords so they ban the entire friggin country from owning them. That makes a lot of sense, doesn't it. NOT!!!

In Texas we have this

And as Ron White says " If you kill someone there they will kill you back"

BTW When I'm in Sweden this is what I carry.

We don't make the gun, we make it better.

Getting back to the topic, though.

I really like what you have done there Bill.

Many years ago I employed a fitter, who's hobby was making Knives, I saw some of his work, and loved it. Was something I always wanted to try but have never got around to.
