Late 90's 270 Sundancer Thread

I recently got my 1999 270 DA. I've noticed that the V-berth filler cushion does not stay in place. If you lay on the berth and move much at all the cushion just slides out a few inches and leaves a hole in the middle of the cushions! Am I missing something on mine or is this a normal situation?

Thanks,
Larry

Larry that is the most annoying thing about my 2000. Although I haven't gotten around to it, the solution should be simple. I was thinking a couple strips of fabric sewn to the filler cushion and snapped to either the underside of the cushions or the table. It's a bad design to begin with I know.

Thanks, Capz! That's the fix I was leaning to as well.

Larry

I found mine in a barn (stored for 3 years) and made an offer below $20K.
Love my 1996 270 Sundancer and looked at a few others from ads and Craigslist.
All others were over $25K

I purchased approx three wide Velcro strips and stuck them to both the bottom of the cushion and the table top. While I will say the cushion ones pull off when I lift the cushion up (they don't stick to the fabric underneath well), they stay good enough to keep the cushion from sliding around when I lay on it. This idea came from the fact they Velcro the port lounge cushion to the cockpit.

We have a similar issue. I was going to make velcro strips that are attached to the bottom of the cabin table they can velcro or snap there then when it's bedtime flip them up over the front edge of the table onto the top to hold the filler cushions in place from sliding aft.

Where can I get a fiberglass radar arch for my 99? It has all of the other options except the spot light and port side windshield wiper.

My rear starboard stereo speaker has quit working. I've verified that the speaker is still good and the stereo and amp still put out sound on all six channels. Therefore, I have a bad wire between the stereo and the speaker. The wiring diagrams indicate that there is a cabin-to-bilge connector identified as Cap/Plug 19, reference 09-601. I suspect that the failure is at this point, but if not it will allow me to determine which half of the wiring the failure is located within. Does anyone know where this connector is located? I can't seem to find it!

Thanks,
Larry

Can I ask a favor - is anyone running a 6.2 MPI in your 270? If so can you tell me what gear ratio is in your b3 (2.0, 2.2, etc.) and what pitch prop set you are running, along with your WOT range?

Mine was repowered from a 7.4 to a 6.2 and I'm having a hell of a time getting close to the recommended 4800-5200 RPM range with the original drive and props that came with the boat.

Glad to find this forum! Have had ours for 3 years and try to spend at least 30 days a year on board.

We trailered our new to us 270 home for the winter after using it for a month and a half and putting on 40 hours of engine time. Great boat and we couldn't be happier.

I decided to run it across the scales on the way home. The trailer is new and weighs in at 1800#. We had a total weight of 11,300# which leaves a boat weight of 9500#. We have a half tank of fuel, no water, no waste, some gear. It does have all options except the genny. This is a heavy boat!! No wonder it runs so well in the rough! Time to winterize and look forward to next spring.

Mine weighs about 9,000# with gennie, but just the 7.4 single and similar levels to you. Mine is the 8/6 beam version as opposed to your 9/2 version. MM

Hi all. Just got our new 2000 270 last Sunday. Every thing is in very good shape. First issue to deal with is cabin leak coming from the port side rear porthole I'm guessing. Carpet wet and some water in and on top of the hanging closet. Porthole was dry at least on the inside. Will also look at ac condensation tray.
Also leaking at windshield at the helm. Right where the curved glass meets the aluminum support and the straight glass. Any ideas on what is best to use to seal this?

One other thing, at the galley there are 2 switches for lights. One says AC the other DC. Now on my old boat the light in the galley had 2 bulbs, one was for ac and the other dc. The light over the galley only works off the dc switch. Should there not be a ac/110 bulb in there too? Haven't taken it apart yet thought Id ask first. Kinda bored at work today...want to be on the boat!!!!

There are 2 bulbs as you suspected. The 110 vac bulb is a European bulb with an E14 base. I ended up purchasing off of Ebay a E14 to E12 adapter to allow me to use standard bulbs as the E14 European bulbs could not be easily found.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was two different lights but was not sure. If it was on a converter why two switches. MM
