Late 90's 270 Sundancer Thread

I have seen photos of an install that was in front of the v berth, at least then you could watch it from multiple areas in the cabin. Please post photos once you install, I have been thinking about doing the same thing.

Just an FYI for those who need a trash can. I found one that is almost a perfect fit. It is made by RubberMaid. It is a bit taller, but is the same volume as the original trashcan. The only downside is the lip is bigger, and will have to be trimmed for the can to sit flush in the step. I bought is on a lark thinking it had more volume than the original. Best part, I got it for under $4 at Home Depot. Since it wasn't better than the original,mo took it back, but I will keep the info in my back pocket, just in case.

Can anyone with a single look to see if your exhaust manifold looks like it has been wet and rusting the exhaust manifold on the front starboard cylinder just above the fuel filter?

mine looks like it has been wet a long time and is eating up the manifold.

I had missed this post earlier, but I would strongly recommend replacing them. Especially if you don't know the last time they were replaced.

Has anyone replaced the gas spring lifts on their engine hatch? If so, what did you get? It appears from the parts manual that it is 120# lift. Those appear to be few and far between.

Thanks for the site! What model did you order?Bryan

SeaRay got back to me on the lifts::smt038:smt038:smt038

Our records show the engine hatch lift cylinders are 120PSI. The extended length is 26.3" and 16" compressed. The Sea Ray part number for a comparable replacement is #864173

Hi all, boating season is upon us and honey do lists are mounting up! The wifey wants to convert the aft closet into a pantry, to store dry goods for the galley. Closet is somewhat useless since it isn't very deep. Have any of you installed shelves in this closet? Looking for some material/ mounting ideas.

The closet is all plywood covered with vinyl on my boat, so easy enough to drill into. Frankly I would go with Starboard or painted plywood. Depends on your taste and budget.

Another thought is to stack appropriately sized Tupperware in there. That would keep your dry goods dryer longer without putting holes in the vinyl.

Lastly, I see you are "boatless". You may want to get one before you start this project. Seriously, you should have as much info in your signature as possible so that people can give you as specific advice as possible.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize I have t updated my profile.:). Thanks for the reminder. It has been updated! I think I will try the plywood idea.

I used white shelving material and it worked well as pantry for us. Also put a shelf in the locker in the V-berth. Need to make every space count.

Saying goodby to the 270 group. Just purchased a 1991 350/370 Sundancer. The 270 was a great boat and we put nearly 300 hours on it in less than 4 years. We hope the new boat will bring us great new adventures. We are giving up trailering which means no more Lake Michigan or Door county. We will be limited to Lake Winnebago where we already spent 90% of our time.

Enjoy, and look forward to hearing about your latest boat!

Could someone please post a photo of their macerator setup? My 270 had the option, but it looks like everything was removed and capped off. Trying to determin how it was mounted, and see how the hoses were routed from the factory. Thanks! :smt001

What's the best v-berth sleeping position for two adults that you have found? We tried diagonal with the feet by the sink. The person in front has a problem with feet placement.

Jordan, is your macerator located in the engine compartment or in the aft sleeper at the foot of the bed in a storage hatch? Mine is a 98 and located in a storage hatch and has a side discharge. My buddy's is a 99 and located in the engine compartment with a bottom discharge.
