This will be the third year storing my boat with the same person in heated storage. The price was competitive with the area. The marina that managed the operations shut down so a new place took over the duties. In the beginning of the month I get a email say that the charge for hoisting and transport was missed. This added another thousand dollars to the bill. Last season his partner that owns the building did a major glass job to a boat and covered everyone's boat with dust. This year a wall was put up separating the last bay. Last season there were 8 30' or larger boats and a dozen smaller. This winter there are 4 bigger boat 1 being the owners boat and a few jet skis.

I paid for my storage about 2 minutes after they put the stands under her and the guy goes "Oh forgot to tell you, it's $300 more this year".

My only complaint about Craft in Sandusky is that their hours suck and they don’t offer referral bonuses. (If they did, I’d have a free season by now)

    They treat me like family.

I never do business with people that treat me like family. I refuse to go to Olive Garden for that reason. I don't like to be kicked when I'm down and spit on. :D

Business is Business. I always get the $$$ / paperwork straight before the job no matter who I am dealing with. Been dealing with same marina for 25 years. Same policy every year, everything in writing. Lets face it, marine labor and parts are expensive. The work order and pricing are in place before the work is done. If there could be variables - instructions are listed on the work order as how to handle them. Mine states to contact customer before additional costs added. Saves a ton of headaches.
Last season had bottom reconditioned and painted. Marina called and said they miscalculated the amount of paint and needed an additional gallon and proceeded with out contacting me. Wanted to charge me their retail, I met them halfway. We all still drank a beer or 2 together at the end of the day. :)

The boatel where I kept my last 2 boats added a $400 annual radar arch fee.

I had boat hauled late September to replace prop seal. Paid for haulout. Fine. Boat was put by the mechanic shop. It’s late season so I decided to winter store it there. Afterwards I get a bill for $325. Why? They had to move it 20 feet to the storage spot.
Whaddya gonna do? They got the boat, so I paid.
In 30 years I have been at more marinas than I can barely remember and I’ve yet to find one that the owner won’t rip you off for every dime every chance they get.

Yeah, I always pay the marina/shop/service bill as soon as I get it and rarely if ever complain. I want to be top on their list when I need them next time.

So I just got call about my prop seal. The carrier is so corroded after 30 years it won’t separate from lower housing to replace. Next option is he going try find a used lower half.
Haha ha. This is gonna get expensive.
Anybody got blueprints on how to mount an outboard to swim platform?

Wow - You guys need to find a marina that treats you better. The folks at the Marina we slip at for 2 months out of the season as well as the boatyard (different than the marina) are top notch. Friendly, Fair and Punctual.
