Another concern with the high water will be all the additional debris that will be out in the lakes. I saw a lot last season, if it does go up as much as predicted, I expect there will be a lot more s*%t floating around out there. Not to mention, I wonder what it will be like heading up the St Clair River into Lk Huron next season. I will still do at least one trip up into the beautiful blue waters of Huron, but I will also plan to head down to Blueone's neck of the woods and enjoy the Erie islands.

I tell ya if we get a foot more than last year there won't be a dock above water at PIB. This was Millers at the peak last summer. Another foot and the marina would be under water.

This year Lands End on the river was already under water prolly 4-6inches next year is gonna be a big problem for people and businesses on the river. On a side note I Do love my floating dock at MacRay tho!

Hopefully they start welding the extensions soon. By the sounds of it they're going to need them. I would say if my dock goes up another 8" it will be flush with the top of the pole.

On our floating dock our pilings were below the dock surface last year... They are steel and about 8" in diameter. So they have to do something as well.

There is a nice potatoes cannon on the drive from Penetanguishene to Cedar pointe. The guy that runs the auto scrap and mechanic shop across the street owns it. He is always happy to blast a few rounds out if you stop and ask , propane powered and he has a die he cuts the spuds to perfect size for his barrel with . Pretty awesome gun and if I had a shoreline to protect I'd have one.

I can't remember how many MacRay said they raised last year. It was alot.
I just looked at a picture I took yesterday when I went to visit the boat and I actually have more piling above the dock than I thought I did. Roller don't look at this picture, you'll be homesick. 20191209_112338.jpg

How much post did you have last summer when water was at its peek? I had about 6-8" left. If they're calling for 8-10" more than summer 2019 then we're in trouble.

At peak I was flush with the top of guide pole..I'll have to take a look and see where I am at now..Shawn's gonna have a busy year adding the box extensions is all I know but sounds like job security for him!

He should be adding those extension through the off season. Even if there are extensions, the worry should be with the hinges of the dock. There were a couple hinge joints that were already hyper extended last year

Were any of you around in the low water about 10 years ago? It was a nightmare. The original design of the hinges couldn't handle the stress, so sometimes you could hear several docks in a day snap their hinges. The dock would drop onto the utility lines, pretty much always snapping the sewer hose. So apparently, the new hinges were designed for extreme low levels, but not high?

I believe one of the gas docks snapped a hinge weld last year. The angle part of those docks were level with the water or on a slight incline believe it or not. Not looking good for 2020

We received a newsletter from Crews Nest the other day along with next years bill. They are raising some docks, replacing power and water on them and building a dock, adding 300' of dock space... not sure where that would fit?. They also raised their rates on Golf carts, membership and dock fees :( … so there is hope next summer on the island... albeit more expensive

I think that is going around everywhere. That's what a good economy and full waiting list do. They figure if you don't want to pay for it the next guy on the list will.

They were complaining last year that the boaters were not using the bar restaurant and considered putting a min spend on your dock bill. I guess they changed their mind and just raised the dock price 25%/ft.

Crew's Nest complained a lot about a lack of revenue last year, particularly early in the season / at the peak of high water. I know it kept me away. I just didn't feel like boating with wet feet all the time. I haven't seen the newsletter yet. A friend of mine got his bill though - he wasn't happy.

I did get a chance to see the pool getting torn out. They're making major improvements with the replacement, which is cool.
