Lake shake 2017

Seems close enough that you would. Maybe not as clear tho

Not familiar with this particular event, but I think it's highly dependent on how the stages and sound are oriented, and how closely boats may be allowed to anchor. A fest I attended in VA Beach oriented some stages perpendicular to and very close to the waterline, so some sound would travel sideways out over the water. For a riverside fest I attended, waterfront stages and their sound systems were oriented parallel to the waterline facing inland. Stages farther away from the water were perpendicular. If you were on land between stages and water, the sound was muddied sometimes, especially when the inland stages were going. (There often was 15 - 30 min overlap of performances on the main waterfront stages and the inland secondaries.)

Consider also that other boaters in the vicinity may be listening to the fest....or cranking their own tunes.

Hopefully some members have attended so you can know for sure!

My only suggestion was to get a transient slip at Burnham Harbor since its boardered by Northerly Island on the East side, you maybe able to hear something if you cant while anchoring. It would be a fun festival to attend but at a $100pp for daily admission, I think I'll stick with Summerfest in Milwaukee as our music festival by boat destination.

Transient slips available beginning may 1

Hey guys, I usually don't stir up older threads, but I'm very familiar with the setup on Northerly Island. I'm on EF dock at Burnham Harbor which is (literally) right behind the concert stage.

If you check out the satellite imagery on Google Maps and reference the quick "key" I built and posted here you'll see the stage/sound projects SE across the island and is partially blocked on the lake side by a large covered grandstand. Given the size of the island and the layout, you'd have to anchor quite a ways from the stage and while you can hear music (I've been out there on the water), it's not the best experience.

As far as transient slips, I can't speak for sure, but I'm told the 1,100+ slips at Burnham are sold out for the season.
