Lake Saint Clair Peeps

...go over some ideas to replace all the orginal electronics, radar, chart plotter, stereo, speakers, and camera in the engine room. I want to add fuel monitors also.

As far as the fuel monitors, google Fox Marine. They have a nice set-up that plugs into your engine controller and reads the fuel from the injector pulses. It also has the capabilities to talk to your new electronics and provide a bunch of engine data. All for the cost of fuel monitors.

Did you guys happen to see the recent thread where people were suggesting that a gasser 400DA will only get .5 - .6 mpg? Whew - that one aged me, but aside from massive amounts of internet baloney, there was an interesting comment about the accuracy of the consumption data provided by Smartcraft. Like the Fox gateway, Smartcraft calculates flow by counting injector pulses. One poster found his Smartcraft flow data to be quite inaccurate.

I have Garmin GFS-10 flow meters. They're highly accurate and I have no regrets, but when Fox came along, I really liked the idea of being able to see all the other data they can provide. Now I'm not so sure. I might rather have accurate flow data and nothing else than inaccurate flow accompanied by a bunch of other, less critical info...?

Cool LSC thread btw. I started at MacRay in '98! A few years ago I even lived aboard there. I should've kept my old driver's license. It was too cool to have an address of "Sea Ray Blvd".

I guess I'm sort-of a LSC Alum now though: I haven't brought the boat back up from Sandusky for 2 seasons now.

Roller when I was researching gas vs. diesel in the 400 Sundancer thread winter of 15' 16' and on LSC network it seemed like most were around .75 gpm. I wasn't to concerned because most of the boating I do isn't long runs. I was going to add all my gas receipts up and my hours from last season to figure out an average gph but haven't done it yet. Maybe because I don't want to know . I'm with you though, I would rather have accurate fuel consumption than all the other stuff. Where are you at down there Cedar Point? We went to Cedar Point last year and plan on it again this year. Maybe we can meet when we go there. You have been a lot of help with my purchase and ownership. Thanks

Jim at Belle Maer. !999 380 Sundancer, Time Well Wasted. THJeff we are the second boat in on E row, and my good friend Russ is also on N row, Tooth and Nail. We rent our well from an employee of mine, but I would love to be on N row. The Admiral and I like the park-like setting and calmness at BMH compared to Mac Ray. Why there are no trees at MR I'll never know. The trees where the best idea that Eric ever had. Some of the feelings people have is up to whether they like their neighbors.

I'll preface this again and say I think Eric and Lynn in the office are great people. Easy to work with and always always friendly. The trees at BMH are Eric's claim to fame sort of speak. When we signed up there that was his big selling point. However, after being there for two and half years we realized we really never used the trees for shade. If the sun was straight up in the sky and I needed shade cause it was hot we'd be on the lake, not at the marina sweating. If the sun was going down like say 5-6pm. The shade trees did nothing anyways. On top of that, spiders were constantly falling from them. It didn't bother me but hearing the wife and kids all the time.. Once again, it was the rules on top of rules that droves us out of there. The emails that explained the rules and how someone violated them and how they would need to add more rules if we couldn't follow them. We felt like third grade with the barrage of emails.

I won't continue but I'm not the only one that made the switch from BMH to MR. We have friends that were at BMH for 7 years and they loved it. They made the switch this year after hanging out with us at MR the last two summers. You don't realized how constrictive it is until you go somewhere else

This year is going to be ridiculous

Doc O Rock and others at BMH about the trees, I have to put my 2 cents worth on this topic. I've been at BMH for 8 years now. My dock was L74. My dock is on the south side of the shared dock. So being on the south side of the dock, my tree does me no good as the shade the tree produces is in the north side. So all the people in the condo wells who are south of the trees get very little shade. And these great trees are a major pain in the a## come fall. Plus, I rarely sit at my well on sunny hot summer days if I did actually have shade. So I never understood the infatuation with the "shade trees".

Anyway, my well was sold this year and the prices on what few wells available have become extremely expensive, so I will be moving to Mac Rays. No more shade tress for me. But I really enjoyed BMH and will miss it and all my friends there.

LOL. I love it. I am just now reading your post AFTER my post above. I couldn't agree more!!!

I drove through BMH today and saw 2 boats in wells at Mac Ray. Great to see big boats in!!!

Yeah, they’re having a lot of fun, and getting a LOT of attention. Their pics are about 80% of my FB feed right now.

Shade arguments aside, the trees and grass just make BMH feel more park-like; MacRay feels very industrial and sterile to me. Agree there isn't a big shade advantage with the trees and they do make the boat a bit dirtier even in the summer. I do think the trees result in fewer seagulls flying around the boats.
As for rules, I honestly can't think of a single restriction where I say "Oh, I really wish we could do this, but Eric says we can't." I know the pool rules were mentioned earlier but we don't spend more than an hour there at a time anyway, so I can do without food during that short time. It's a welcome trade off to having food spilled everywhere and dealing with garbage people leave behind.

Just looking back through some pics and can't wait to do this again. Goose Bay.
