Hi all,

From reading through some of the threads here it looks like several of you are on Lake Norman. We've been in a boat club the last couple of years (Aquaventure over in Sherrill's Ford... on the other side of the railroad bridge by The Landing) and decided to take the plunge this year and get our own boat. We just had an offer accepted on a SeaRay 240 Sundeck.

I'm hoping to take delivery of the boat in the next 7-10 days (it's currently dry stacked at Lake Wylie) and then it will be time for the maiden voyage!

We live up in Mooresville and I have two little girls (6 & 3) who already love the lake (esp the Blue Parrot, we go there almost every weekend). We do a bit of everything - anchoring in coves, hanging on islands, tubing and cruising. We'll be dry-stacking at Skipper's Landing (Morningstar Marinas) right off of Perth. I only live about 3-4 minutes from Skipper's Landing so we'll probably be out on the lake A LOT :) (I was already going out at least once a week as part of the boat club during the warm months!).

Question to those of you who don't stay in the water year round. When you do you generally winterize your boat at the end of the season and when do you take it back out? Our boat club had pontoons in the water year round... but the speed boats only stayed in April 1st to October 1st (which would drive me crazy every time we had a nice warm October weekend!). Obviously it's going to be quite a while until I have to worry about this, but I was curious what others do.

I'm looking forward to meeting other members and I'll keep an eye out for raft ups and such.

I'm dry stacked at Lake Norman Marina. We frequent the Landing and The Boathouse. There are a couple of other folks at Boatrack, PYC and the marina at the Boathouse (can't recall the name). We talked about getting together last summer but never did. As far as my boat, I winterize in late November and get going again in mid March - planning to go get the boat running next weekend. Lake Norman Marina closes weekends Dec 1 - Mar 1. I do go up a couple of weekdays during the winter to work on projects.

Would be great to meet up - I have a college age daughter who is with me some, the wife is good for a couple of trips (we need a bigger boat for her liking!) but I am a die hard so it's not uncommon for me to go out alone, meet up with friends or just enjoy the lake. Would be grate to meet up.

PS - really like the 240 Sundeck, probably going to be my next boat.

I take my kids to the boathouse for breakfast sometimes and we like the Landing as well (Port City is great also, but that's a haul from north LKN so we don't get down there quite as much).

It sounds like you are a man after my own heart... my wife will go out once a week and enjoy it, but that's just getting started for me (she was fine with the boat club :)). I was taking my kids out quite a bit last year on thursday/friday afternoons just to get out on the water.

I have a feeling that my gas bill is going way up this summer now that I live 3-4 minutes from the marina (instead of the 15-20 it took me to get over to our boat club at Mountain Creek Marina).
