My wife and I will be relocating to Charlotte from St. Louis in the near future. We will be bringing our 2007 320DA with us. I am looking for recommendations for marinas were we might consider keeping our boat. We would like to find one with a covered slip as that is what we are use to here. We have looked at the marinas at Kings Point and PYC.

I would appreciate any feedback you might be able to provide me.

So...welcome to Charlotte Rick, when you get here!
I keep my boat at Westport Marina on the west side of the lake, in a dry stack. There are wet slips, but none are covered.
As far a other marinas, I'm no help. See ya on the water sometime. Mike

My boat was at Kings Point for a couple months when I first bought it- before I moved it 2 lakes south which is much more convenient for me. Anyway, since you have checked it out, you know they don't have any covered slips but they had decent service and the location was pretty convenient to get to from the SE side of the lake. In my journeys on LKN I don't recall seeing any marinas with covered slips but I am sure there are some tucked away in a cove somewhere.

Hey Rick,

Depending where you are moving on the lake there are a couple good marinas on Lake Norman. If you want covered, you will probably want to look into Stutts Marina off Brawley School road. They just rennovated the grounds and the docks and everything looks nice, not to mention a couple BBQs to hang out at after a nice day on the lake. If covered isn't a big deal for you, I can recommend All Seasons Marina as one of the friendliest marinas around.

Hope you can find your Sea Ray a good home, our 31 Sundancer loves LKN.

Rick

Having kept a boat at Lake Norman, both Kings Point and PYC are the best. KP is mainly dry stack. PYC is wet slip. Both are very well run. Kings Point is much cheaper, it depends on what you are looking for

You'll be hard pressed to find a covered slip as I think there are only a couple marinas on LKN that are covered.

Slip location is also going to depend on what part of town you are in or how far you are willing to travel. LKN is a large lake with only one bridge from the west to the east.

Last year my boat was at Crown Harbor Dry Storage (exit 30). This year it is at WaterStreet Seaport (Exit 25). WaterStreet was considerably less than Kings Point, but you miss out on small things like carts to haul your gear and trash cans within a reasonable distance.

There are not many covered slips on Lake Norman that are easily accessible from the highway. Most of the covered slips I know of are older marinas and quite a drive from the highway (and traffic is awful from Friday afternoon to Sunday night). PYC is really nice if you don't mind the joining fee $$$$! Kingspoint, PYC and Holiday Marina are good choices, but none are covered.
