An Open Letter To : SeaRay Club Members & Fellow Boaters

From: LakeMartin Concierge – A Fellow Boater, Resident and Business on Lake Martin, Alabama

Just a little local information for everyone who is thinking of attending the Signature AquaPalooza / SeaRay 2009 event on Lake Martin, Alabama July 25th & 26th. Yes – LakeMartin is a very large lake covering 44,000 acres and has appox. 750 miles of shore line. Yes – we are 1 of 3 lakes in Alabama which are "restricted" to boat size and boat speed. Yes – we are required to have a State of Alabama boating license to operate a water vessel. There has been some confusion as to the rules and regulations concerning this upcoming event. As of this date ( June 8, 2009 - 11:30 AM ) I was informed personally by Captain Brooks ( District III Headquarters Lake Martin ) from the State of Alabama Dept. of Conservation Marine Division that the Director for the Dept. of Conservation has issued a 4 day "exception" for this event. The 4 days are –Thursday 23rd , Friday 24th, Saturday 25th, Sunday 26th, " ONLY ". All other State of Alabama Boating Laws will apply for this event. You will need in your possession at all times when on your vessel the current registration and driver license id. Please understand and be aware although this is a very large and beautiful lake, the area around the lake is " VERY " rural and has " EXTREMLY " limited lodging, dining, boat ramp access, ect …. Captain Brooks has offered this email address for boat owners to send questions, HOWEVER it may take a few days for a response from him. The address is DCNR.MPD3@DCNR.ALABAMA.GOV . WE have a great group of Marine Police ( 7 ) patrolling LakeMartin waters and Capt. Brooks wants "all" to know they will be there to help you and with your families safety. I am familiar with the event setup and grew up on LakeMartin and will be happy to help my fellow boaters. I will be posting updates on my home page from LakeMartin, www.LakeMartinConcierge.Net , to also keep others informed. It is easier for me to use my website than to retype / reply to several forums. I will be giving local event updates and answering visitor boating question. Just go to my website for your Lake Martin, Alabama information. Have a great boating experience and WELCOME to Beautiful Lake Martin, Alabama !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for allowing me this forum to be of help.
