Pulling boat up Thursday to Sis in laws in Cummings. Going out on Lake Lanier Friday, weather permitting. I know the ramps and the lakes should not be busy that day.
How about weekends, what time do the ramps get crazy? I’m thinking I need to be wet no later than 10AM.
Be mostly tubing and sightseeing.
Looking to put in at Mary Alice Boat Ramp, any better ramp suggestions?
Thanks.

We use that ramp at MA park routinely. It’s a great ramp—there are 3 and most users are polite and efficient. However, as of a couple weeks ago, one of the two courtesy docks is gone for repair. That leaves a single dock that accommodates a single boat at a time. This is a big bottleneck during peak times.

Friday boat traffic shouldn’t be a problem. Saturday, you’ll want to launch by 10 or you’ll likely start to see some congestion.

Also, just noticed that there’s a poker run on the lake this weekend so expect some go-fasts to be out in force...

Thanks for the info! Looks like weather Saturday will not be good so might be taking a detour to the Coke Museum where my Granddaughter wanted to go.
I was reading some info that a lot of the go fast boats do not do the Poker run anymore. Maybe to many crashes?
Looking forward to seeing the lake a scoping out some potential retirement property.
Will most definitely be out Friday and probably Sunday and maybe Monday.

Great day on the water. Could not have ask for better weather.

You made a good choice of days. We launched mid-afternoon Friday and were prepared to stay until Saturday PM but ended up returning at 2AM due to the storm threat. At 6 AM we experienced a significant squall line of severe weather that I was happy not to be on the water in.

On the upside, there’s not much congestion at Mary Alice Park boat ramps and docks at 2 AM...

Glad everybody was safe. That was a serious line of thunderstorms. I was very glad to be at the dock!

It was so loud I came up on deck and watched it move through. The radar had a classic hook echo down to the south that can indicate rotation and tornadoes. I haven’t heard any reports of anything too serious, but it sure did storm like hell!

A bit local, but there's some damage along Hwy 9 (@ Hamby) in Milton:

I've also seen some unconfirmed reports of lines down on Freemanville in Milton...

It did it did! Looking like it is going to happen again!

Had a blast in the Poker Run today. I stayed at the dock while the rest went to the finale tonight. They are at Margaritaville by boat! Glad I did. They are stuck there now with one hell of a storm!

That's where we were last night when we decided to bail. A slow 7 kts across the main lake channel got us back about a hour later. Great lightning show en route but happier to have boat back in garage before it all hit the fan.

Looks like the poker run had great weather today--not so much tonight it seems.

The weather guessers did miss Saturdays call. Weather came in early and late, not mid day as predicted.
Going back out Sunday. Winds look to be about 10-15 WSW.
Hoping for another great day.

On the hook tonight with a couple other SRs in a protected cove. So far the weather has been to the north and south.

Nice cool breeze. Wish us luck

I may have seen you at the ramp putting in. I noticed a very large boat on a triple axle trailer that dwarfed the truck, I think it was a GM or Chevy truck.

Might have indeed been us...tow vehicle is a Ford F250 (white), trailer is a triple axle. Teenage son is learning to back it down the ramp--that's a big help/efficiency improvement in our launch process. Of course, being a teenager, his ability to absorb "constructive instruction" from his dad sometimes leaves a little to be desired :).
