We may be moving to the Lake Lanier area and we will be buying a boat to keep ar one of the Marinas, I am curious as to the various sizes of boats on that lake.
While the lake is a fairly good size will it warrant a 280 Sundancer?
What can anyone tell me about the lake and the marinas.

Thanks, Ken

Welcome Aboard  Yes the 280 would be a good size for the lake. May want to check out the Southeast Section on the board there is quite a few Lake Lanier boaters on the board. Personally I would not go out Lanier on the weekends with any thing less than a 240 any more. What part of the lake are going to be on?

PS I'll try to get the mods to move this to the Southeast section so maybe you will get more replies.

With the weather being so good, I guess all the LL boater are on the lake.

We have a 280 and we keep her at Bald Ridge Marina. It is just off GA 400. The 280 does just fine out there, even on the weekends. Now yesterday we saw a 500 that looks like it would do a little better!!!

Depending on where you are moving, there are several nice marinas! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Lake Lanier

Ken, I've been on lake Lanier and I've see 80-90 footers and 40-50 foot boats are common in both power and sail.

You'll love that lake ... a very interesting shore line and lots of nooks to anchor in for overnighters.

Today was one of those day would not want to be on LL with a small boat :smt021 Lots of big boats and big waves. Ran the whole lake top to bottom for the MM cook out. Top was nice, lower was rough.
