Is there any where you can do an over night stay on Lake Erie west basin without going to a marina around the Sandusky area?

Yep. In calm conditions you can anchor off of Cedar Point Beach or the peninsula we call the Sand Bar. In rougher conditions, the inside bay (under the causeway) south of Cedar Point is very protected.

I just realized that I mis-read your post. Are you looking for anchorages in W. Lake Erie, or marinas that aren't in the Sandusky area?
I'm looking for anchorage .I've done a lot of boating on the Ohio River and dropping anchor where ever is the norm.Now I know that this is a little more trickie on the lake erie but that what I'm use to.
I know many couples that stay overnight at the north side of kellys. Just be sure to watch the weather. It can change in an instant.

North side of Kelleys. Godd anchorage but rough with a north wind.
Schoolhouse Bay, east of Middle Bass Island. Relatively sheltered. A strong south wind will give you a bumpy night.
Many more but it's late and I have had a few double IPA's. winter is way too long. I'll come up with a few more in the morning.

there used to be a way to get into the ponds between trouts marina and the raisin river.My dock neighbor at the time used to go ther in his 3855 baliner but i was unsure with my 40 convertible.I dont know if it shoals or not but i have seen lots of jet skis going in there,mabey you could find a local on the creek where trouts is that can show you the ropes.

East Harbor along the strip of land to the East. Sailboaters use to anchor in this area, not sure now with the lower water levels. Lots of weeds, but protected.
