Anyone dock at any of the Lake Erie Islands yet this year? I wonder if they were full, half full, or hardly full. I wonder if these gas prices will keep boater at their home marinas this year. Channel 3 out of Cleveland did a boat story last week saying many boaters are planning "staycations" and staying tied to their own docks. I am definately planning to go to PIB for the July 4th Week. I will probably make one trip each to Kelleys Island and Pelee island but not sure if I will take anymore trips this year. And to think, I used to fo to PIB on "day trips." If I am going to spend the gas to go to one of the islands I will try to stay at least 2 to 3 days.

I didn't get up to PIB this wkd, but I heard reports from some friends that it was busy.

In the meantime, Sandusky Bay and the transient docks at CPM were strangely quiet this wkd.

I went into the Harbor at PIB on Sunday afternoon while moving around the islands looking for walleye. The harbor seemed busy. Even most of the mooring balls had takers as well. It didn't look too slow to me. Curious to see though if it stays that way as the season wears on and fuel budgets are exhuasted sooner rather than later.

I have spent 10 or so nights at Kelleys so far, and all seems normal at PortSide with regard to boat traffic. I do notice, that the bulk of boats are local (Sandusky Bay, PC & Marblehead). I bet the folks from the east (Huron, Vermilion, Lorain, etc.) are the ones that will be reducing trips due to gas. Here's to drilling for oil in Alaska. Take care.
