Went to the marina today to check on things and most of the dock walkways are under several feet of water...no real surprise since the lake has come up over 16 feet in 10 days...Corps of Engineers is predicting the lake will hit 850' (normal summer pool is 840') in a few days and it is projected to take almost 4 weeks to lower to full pool...
Right now we still have power to the dock(s), but this could change...sure glad I replaced all the batteries last year...

I could still make it out to the boat with out getting my feet wet yesterday not sure about today yet but going to check this afternoon.

wonder what Lake Lanier is doing? Chickamauga on the TN River has been at full pool for a few days and the Tenn-Tom is basically flooded as well...

Looks like Lanier is close to 5 feet above full pool. No power generation is scheduled for Allatoona since the whole ACT Basin is at or above capacity...well, it's not exactly prime boating season, so it's more of an inconvenience than a real problem...

Lake Chatuge one of the headwaters to the TN river around Chatanogga is not a full pool yet, but they are not letting any out. Try to hold the water up here in the Mountains since our water flows north to the TN river.

Currently, 4.9ft above full pool. Was at the boat checking things out yesterday. We are on a floating dock so we are good. However, there are massive amounts of stuff-trees, etc. floating in the water. I would not take my boat out for naught now. Record level is 6.2ft above full pool in 1964. We shall see....

Lake Lanier today. Usually the gangplank is down about 10’...today it was flat out to the docks.

These flooding stories are starting really early this year... Good luck

wow did they kill all the power to the docks yet? My friend has his 32 there and they told him they were shutting power off if it got any higher.

Looks like it...my internet camera went down (router requires A/C Power)..Which dock is your friend's 32 on?

Assuming for a minute they got no more rain, how long would it take for the lake to drain down to normal levels, and how does it drain?

Assuming no more rain (supposed to rain on Tuesday), and a "normal" generation schedule, it should take about 4 weeks to return to full summer pool..Water drains into the Etowah River which eventually becomes part of the Mobile River.

Are homes/businesses being flooded? What is the flood insurance requirements around these areas? Seems like all we hear about in coastal areas is how expensive it is for flood insurance but never inland area that do flood from time to time.

Lake Lanier this morning is 5.3ft above full pool. All floating docks/gang planks seem ok. Anything “nailed” down like some of the gang planks are underwater. In Atl, some older homes were built in flood plains along creeks and are likely flooded, but I have not heard of much at all. This country is hilly enough that it all runs off into rivers and then into the lakes. We do not have flood insurance and I do not know of anyone that does.

Here is a chart of the ACT River Basin for those that are not familiar with the area..
