Not the best weekend for boating in Indiana
Saturday was a very nice 97* and sunny..met up with some friends and ran Lake Monroe a bit and anchored down for the night.
It was a dark and stormy night (I always wanted to type that) the wind picked up and the storms came in. I was standing on the swim platform doing the 5am morning duty between squalls when lightning struck the shale bank about 200yds
to the south starting a small rockslide into the lake. This made the "morning duty" go a bit quicker.
Decent day Sunday but not nearly as warm...still a nice day to burn 30 gallons or so of fuel
Monday the winds came and it cooled off. 8am it was blowing 20mph+ sustained with higher gusts from no particular direction and 49*.
here are a few pics from the water.
The admiral as the front came in
we decided to pull out on Monday rather than gutting it out till Tuesday hoping for the wind to lay down (it never did) but this convinced me to leave early. She was curled up on the engine cover seeking a warm spot.
I told her that the weather made the bacon, eggs, and pancakes taste even better...not to mention the coffee. She is a trooper and would have stayed but both of us are really glad we didn't.
I knew Labor Day was the last day of the summer season but didn't know it was the first day of winter
Great weekend regardless.
