Labor Day Weekend-Where you going?

Moving my daughter into URI Saturday, then hopefully hang out on the boat Sunday, Monday in Lewis Bay.

Boomsday 2011 in Knoxville, TN with some old and some new friends. They say it is the biggest Labor Day fireworks show in the US. We'll see!

Thinking of heading to Block Island this weekend weather pending. We will probably stay at Champlains. Anyone know if the marinas over there lost any power and if so, is it back on?

Cool!! Hack4alivin will be down there on his boat. Are you going to be taking your boat.

I'll be working on restoring customers through Saturday now thanks to Irene!

I considered taking the boat down and grabbing a transient slip for a few days and possibly watch the race from it. But then I heard that they sometimes restrict the number of boats allowed in the Inner Harbor. I don't know if this is true not and it's too late to grab a slip. I figure we'll drive down this year and check things out . Maybe we'll boat down next year, it would not be a short trip though. A lot would depend on $GAS$.

Nowhere damn! Our lakes are so down because of no rain and to top it off, the heat has started to cause the blue algae to bloom on the lake. The Corp of Engineers has advised not to get in the water or you could become deathly sick. What a Labor Day!!!!!!

Champlin's makes their own power so I'm sure they're OK

Heading to the bay as well but not until next weekend. We are spending a few days in Emeryville then the rest of the week in SF at South Beach then off to Jack London Square for a week finishing the last weekend in Sausalito!

I did not realize Champlain's made their own power. Is that why they try to justify charging $50 per night for electrical over there???

Thats right, my buddy stayed there on the 4th of July (we were on the hook) he could not believe the cost for power either - he ran all 3 ac systems the whole time........with the doors open! - they use diesel - they supposedly went that way so they did not have to rely on the "expensive" island power (there is a power plant on BI) LOL

Yeah....ridiculous for power over there and that is above and beyond the slip rates which are not exactly inexpensive, but the family likes staying there so we deal with it! If power rates go up anymore, it will be cheaper to just run the genny all night while on the docks over there!

Starting the weekend off at The Chart Room tomorrow afternoon... lobster roll and some mudslides... from there the rest of the weekend is anyone's guess. Cuttyhunk is a possibility.

I am going to check out the tugboat races and the tugboat nose to nose pushing competition on the Hudson, then head into the city to see Mary Poppins.

We are planning to spend our time at Kinnie on the St Croix River

Unfortunately, Ottawa, to install my eldest into University. Would prefer to be boating...

Paul
