KVH TV4 question

Gary- Nothing about the active multi-switch needs to show through any faceplate. The manual A/B switch is NOT the unit you reference in your link above. That is the ADCU from the G4 unit. You don't really need that.

The manual AB switch from KVH (do a Google and it comes up on Nextag) plugs into the DB9 serial connector on the front of the control switch. It is possible to drill a hole and run the cable behind the panel, but that's only for dress.

Gary;

The multiswitch operates like a splitter for normal television but it is powered. The 12 VDC input they show is provided from a transformer that comes with the switch. The KVH switch you were looking at switches between satellites. I understand that HD is on a different satelitte than regular TV. The KVH switch allows you to go easily between sats. I got my multiswitch from eBay, but you can't get it today. The multiswitch can be mounted anyplace as you do not need access to it once installed.

I just ran two RG-6 lines from my antenna mast down to the electronics area. What a pain in the ass. I couldn't test anything because of the strong thunderstorms. Ever been up on a 480 DB hard top working in lightning on a big aluminum antenna mast? Geez...

I'm going to work in the shop tonight on a new cabinet face. So what is this switch? I need to know... Help me obi-wan...

Phil would know.

Well in that case, you need 3 of the $1000 ADCU's.

The manual A/B switch is KVH part#01-0245

I do not have dimensions other than approx. 1 7/8"W x 6 1/2"H The cable comes out of the back at a fixed location and will need to be drilled exactly. I cannot recommend drilling or fitting your panel without the part in hand.

Man... this moderator editing is really getting in the way. You are breaking up Matt... hello?
