I also had same issueof loosing picture. As four suns posted previously i turned off sleep mode. Also while the boat is at the dock and once the dish gets a signal i turn of the dish at the switch by the couch. This has worked well for me. If i dont shut off the dish eventually it will go scanning the sky;s and I loose picture forever. I then turn it off at the panel and reboot.

Mine scans and seemingly locks on to something but it is not one of Directv satellites and we get no transponder signal strength on any of the satellite numbers. KVH was stumped and has determined something is bad in the dome itself. Hence, the "ship it to us".
