Kohler 5e generator oxygen sensor

Anyone know if disconnecting the O2 sensor unit will cause any issues? I disconnected it as it was faulty and was keeping the unit from cranking (code EC60). Once I disconnected it the gen fired right up and ran ok.

Too may sensors on these gas generators!!!

I get an OF and then 62 code after a load is applied for about 10 minutes of running. OF is over frequency. 62 code is seawater pump. I have good water and fuel flow. I replaced the fuel pump. I would run the generator for a couple of hours a week if it would stay running. A friend told me you have to run them a lot to keep them going.
