knoxville area locks operable?

tenessee river locks still working?Thinking of a move if the right bussiness oportunity comes along.

Yep, as long as we are talking about the TN River locks. Some like Melton only at limited times. Need to check and make sure they are not closed for maintenance.

Good i heard a few years ago there may be problems near chatanooga or knoxville that werent going to repairable because of $$$$$ from government and that some large vessels may even get locked in the east end of the river.The admiral wants us to think about buying a bussiness and stop working for other people.looking for locations and boating is a biggie for me.any walleye or yellow perch down there?

I haven't heard any news about inoperable locks in Knoxville. Chattanooga, on the other hand, had something going on. I don't know if they were closed or going to be closed or what, but definitely do some research/calling to see. I believe they are operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. Start at their website and I'm sure you can find a number for the lockmaster and get the lowdown.

Check the above link for all the latest updates on The Tennessee river locks. The lock at chickamauga just above Chattanooga is undergoing modernization as money is available. It is closed more often and for longer than any others.

Thanks scott ,i caught about 15 10-12 " perch this weekend but unfortunately they mysteriously dissapeared around dinner time last night! Loneranger thanks for the link ,i think chickamauga was the lock in question it was about 6 years ago when i first started thinking about the move but got divorced soon after that.She got my 40 silverton and i took a few years off from boating.I got the info originally from americas great loop cruisers association of which i was a member.

seriously, I ran all the locks from chicamauga thru pickwick in late June. no problems and one of the prettiest boat rides you'll ever take.

Well i do miss the silverton ,she was an 86 40 convertible and clean as a whistle,900hrs on 454 crusaders when she went byby.She took me on my first long cruise from monroe mi to new york ,up the erie canal to cayuga lake and back.she had 10" navman and 41xx raytheon with open array.Mabey i will get a 340 someday,or a 370.But for now i just need to find a place to go thats not flint michigan as its a dried up city.Looking for possible opportunities in mabey buying a muffler shop or similar ,currently work in autobody repair ,managed at chevy dealership for 6 years and now do heavy collision frame repair and mechanical electrical,the admiral is a biller for lab at hospital that keeps hiring people that think work is where you take care of your personal bussiness (ex-welfare recipients mostly).sorry im sick of it too.thanks for the info though.and any more that you have.I took the rest of the week off its slow and i need to recarpet the bunks on the boat trailer and paint it before winter.

I think the worst part is our house is only 5 yrs old and paid for,we will probably lose our a**es on it if we move.
