FUEL SALE- Friday June 26th and August 7th are 50/50 Fridays! Purchase 50 gallons or more of gas or diesel fuel at the Kingman Fuel Dock and save 50 cents a gallon. You must call VHF 71 or 508-563-7136 ext 101 to get a number. Service by numbers only! Service begins at 8 am and ends at 7 pm.

Anyone done this? How crazy is it over there on these days? Seems like a good marketing event to me, but sounds like it will be crazy.

They must be piling on a lot of profit to offer $0.50 off. I was talking to a marina manager here where I was buying parts. He said they make $0.15 per gallon and pump about 100,000 gallons of gas and diesel each year. Not a big profit center considering he has to hire two kids to attend the fuel docks.

I was just at the fuel dock there a couple of days ago, $3.15/Gallon. It may have even gone up since then since all of the local stations have gone up in the past few days. I will be getting my "number" early and taking advantage of the sale though.

ChuckW - I keep my boat at Kingman and have taken advantage of the 50 / 50 event almost every year. Its worth it if you keep your boat there and can hang out on your boat in the slip until your number is called.
Kingmans fuel prices tend to be 30 - 50 cents more per gallon than most of the other fuel docks around - for example Pt. Independance in Onset.
If you were planning to go to the area for another purpose (to visit or to eat at the Chart Room), its worth it. But if you are just planning on going to get fuel to "save" the 50 cents, its probably not worth it......you could find fuel (gas or deisel) in the area for the around the same price and not have to wait for your number or endure the long channel to get to Kingman.
Hope this helps....

Thanks Steve. Very helpful. We do like to visit Bassetts Island from time to time, when its not too crowded over there.

What about the "boat-in" movie nights over there. I've considered getting transient on a "boat-in" weekend so the kids can enjoy some old fashioned movie going. Does that work out well?

I've been at Kingman for several years, but have never been to / seen one of the movie nights. It seems like every time they have them, we have been away for the weekend. Let me know if you are planning to go to Kingman (for movie night, 50/50 fuel or just a trip to Bassets) and we can meet up.

I will.

When will you be back in the water? I guess if I came too soon I'd be assured of a large slip available though. :wow:
