Kill Switch Misfire - Need Help!

Hello, accidentally tripped the kill switch yesterday coming into harbor. Was able to get boat started again, not sure though what I did. Now, the ignition key is stuck in the "Start" position, and the only way the boat will start is if its in gear. Any ideas what may be wrong? I may have forced key at some point when the kill switch activated as I panicked somewhat with no power coming into harbor. With boat in neutral, when I hit "Run" on kill switch, it turns over repeatedly, likely due to where the key position is. Should I try to force the key back?

Any advise is much appreciated.

Found out that the ignition went bad, and the timing of it was coincidental with the kill switch activation. Ignition replaced and all is well
