Key West bound

Nice, have a great time, did you end up flying down or drive?
We were there a couple weeks ago and had a great time, took the ferry down from Fort Myers, nice smooth ride both ways.
No bit the bullet first class Indy to Key West. It's the only way to go...

I have a good friend who lives in KW so it is a no brainer to visit. I have driven and flown down. I like the drive and most times it isn’t bad. The key is you want to get to Marathon by 10:00 am. The stretch between Tavernier and Marathon is where it backs up usually. Goes from 4 lanes down to 2 lanes and then there are boneheads who jump on the frontage road and then hop back on slowing things down even more. But the views are worth the trip and it is great to unwind.

We stayed at Margaritaville, and the highlight of our trip was a JetSki tour (Fury JetSki Rentals) around the islands. They were doing trading exercises at the Air Force Base buzzing right over our heads.

We are heading down to key west again after a two year covid delay. Just talking to my wife who is trying to make dinner reservations as we are 3 couples and I guess things have changed. Some of our favorite places are not taking reservations (blue haven) …. Some are gone, some are booked already. We always go to latitudes for a sunset dinner and they are booked solid.

So I was wondering if anyone has found anything new down there that would be worth trying ….

We are down there last 2 weeks of February in old town on foot

A&B Lobster House. The upstairs restaurant was great every time we went.

My wife and I were just in the Keys Jan9-17, flew into Miami, drove down, beautiful drive, whole trip for a week cost like 1700, for hotel and flight, through Travelocity, booked the car separate, cuz I get a great discount through work…car was 316. The drive is amazing Blue, so many great places to stop….I recommend the Lorelei for a Frotharita on the way down:)

Also recommend The Boathouse in Key West on the Bight, amazing happy hour, half off appetizers and drink specials, apps are so good, tempura lobster, lamb chops, peel and eat shrimp, food is so good, get there early, seats fill up fast…it’s in the old Turtle Krawls bldg now.

You do that drive once…. For me never again. :)….. painfully slow getting there in anticipation…. Hung over and too long on way back…. Try flying direct into key west next time and you will never have to convince yourself the drive is “fun” :D

And fr is right, A an B is great, Alonzos is awesome as well, and if you enjoy cigars and after dinner drinks Berlin’s is a great place also.

Yes been there many times for lunch… good stuff

We have flown into key west also, last year for my wedding, and a couple times before that…we’ve even flown into Miami, drove down, turned the rental car in and flew back from key west…. That worked out great too

You can get some good cigars in key west, just gotta find the good vendors lol

Love that little airport, for being so tiny, it still has a bar lol

My wife and I are thinking about going down to KeyWest the last weekend of February, also thinking of Sarasota or St Pete area, as we are thinking of moving down to Florida in the near future…if we end up in Key West, I’d like to hook up for a drink Blue:)

I will be at Marathon in a house at Vaca Cut from 23 Feb thru 4 March. We will day trip down to KW for my kid's nostalgia trip, and grandson's 1st birthday. He's already been on 6 boats, 1 cruise ship, and 1st flight this week.
Kinda how I started......
And, don't forget Schooner Warf for Sunday lobster waffles if they still make 'em
