Keowee for Labor Day

Chuck

I heard Brian is going to give everyones boat a free coat of Zaino on the trip so don't spend to much time shining her up.

Not sure what Zaino is, but MS Judy sure needs a good coat of somthing to shine her back up. I thought I was keeping her bottom clean with the srubing I gave her from time to time, boy was I wrong.:smt089 Lake scum:smt100:wow:

Holy cow if Brian Zaino's his boat I'm going to be so embarrassed to show up with mine I'll have to cover the whole boat with a bag.

Chuck, Zaino is an ultimate unbelievably incredible "wax" that is far, far superior to all the other brands that you see people suggest as being really good. It's not really a wax but some sort of polymer that produces a mirror finish that has to be seen to be believed, plus it lasts much, much longer than wax. Back when my Explorer was new and pretty and I still waxed it, I treated it with Zaino. I placed a water bottle on the rear bumper and could perfectly read the microscopic fine print on the back label in the reflection. I could read the address numbers on the home across the street via the reflection on my paint. The finish is too good to come across in a photo, but if you ever see a showcar that's been Zaino'd you'll never forget it.

Zaino is a great product, but I have stepped up to an even better ptoduct now. Its called Menzerna. Worked great on the SS so I tried in the boat, and wow, it works just as good. My SR may shine a little, but the previous owner had his problems getting it into the boathouse a few times if you know what I mean. Next year its gel coat repair.

Will check my email and post back up. Saturday is comming fast!

The Zaino sounds like good stuff. Apparantly somewhere over the years you got better at the application process of product to vehicles! I guess www.permahootus.com is kinda equivilent to sendspamhere.com right? LOL! How will we come up with a Keowee Labor Day story to top that one! Maybe one of our info gathering questions shoulda been...do you carry a first aid kit on your boat instead of asking who has VHF. I was crying and not even past page 2. Thanks! Yes...this should be fun!

We have had a ton of rain here in Charlotte today (4+ inches)and I imagine Keowee has had a lot of rain too. Will that Lake turn red from all the rain. :wow:

I expect Lake Wylie to look like Tomato Soup by the weekend from all the red clay runoff spoiling most outings. :smt021

Just thought I would ask for all you guys who are trailering over there this weekend.

Dave

in that case I am going to wait till I get back to really clean the boat. Actually I will be lucky if I get to wash it since I will be leaving at 6:30 in the morning on Saturday and work has been crazy lately.

Wesley

Can't answer the red clay question. However, it is a tropical rain from the Gulf and would therefore drop traces of saltwater into Keowee. So it looks like Wesley will be boating in saltwater this weekend :)

Our lake that was three feet down this morning is now with in a foot from where it should be. I am pretty sure Lake Lure will be at full pool by morning. We have red mud going everywhere here with all the rain. Some of our job sites are a real mess.

I would guess that Keowee will be up with all this rain which will make it easier to launch the boat. We can look at it this way, that water was way to hot before the storm. It should be just right now if its no full of floating debris.

Keowee is always up because they keep the level for the nuclear power plant there. That's another reason I enjoy the lake; you don't have to worry that when you show up the coastline is somewhere around the end of the boat ramp.

Hooboy we're getting the rain aren't we? Local weather chanel is currently indicating that we can expect "isolated tstorms" on Saturday. I'm still planning to be there.

We will be there for sure.

Tonight I put the trailer straps on, greased the wheels, checked air pressure, and loaded the tube. Tomorrow night I will hook it up to the truck and pull it out of the garage and stand the wake tower up and put the covers back on. We will also get all the cooler stuff together since we will be heading out here at 7am on Saturday.

Really looking forward to it guys.

By the way, our lake, Lake Lure, rose 4ft in less than 24 hours with all the rain we got. We got just over a foot of rain and now a lake that was three feet down is now a foot over full pool. Looks like I will be doing alot of boating this weekend!!

Tonight I washed my work clothes, found my store keys, packed my lunch and got ready for a great holiday weekend.

Tomorrow I get up early to hook the truck to nothing. Ride to work, park the truck and have a great weekend.

Ya'll have fun. I doubt ya'll will have as much fun as I will.

Looks like me and my brother-in-law will be trying to head down on Saturday. We are looking forward to it, no time to clean the boat due to work and us having to leave so early on Saturday why did I not say 11:00 instead of 10:00  but that is alright we will get it clean when we get back.
