Been a while since I've posted. How are all you GL guys doing.
We got back Sunday from a 4 day weekend at Portside Marina on Kelley's. Had a great time. Made the 2.5 hour run from our home port, lake a little snotty but not too bad. We were expecting friends to arrive on the second day (friday) and to our surprise 3 other boating couples we know showed up.
Only 2 things a little dissappointing about this marina - only 1 shower when they need about 4, and the snakes. Water snakes constantly sticking their heads up through the docks - I hate snakes. Note to self - keep boat brush / snake wakker close by.
For those of you with larger boats this marina is a little tight for manouvering. Sunday morning we were enjoying an expresso with our friends before departing and it was like a demolition derby. One guy was easy out past us when some other moron pulls out of a slip right in front of him. Panic set in, he got all crossed up and hooked his port side rail on my brother-in-law's anchor. Just slightly bent the roller but the part that shocked me was the guy just left, did not even show the common curtousy of tieing up to the wall and returning to see if he caused any damage.
The ride back home was fantastic with the lake nearly flat.
Best of all the boat performed flawlessly. I guess all that preventative maintenance in the off season pays off.
Now looking forward to our week long trip to Maumee bay in July.
