Justice? Really?

GFC, my childhood rearing was the same, got caught socializing, got a ass whopping. Both of our boys were taught that there are not yellow, black or white, just people. They also know that in society there are rules & when they stray you pay the consequences, which happened a few times, nothing major. Very proud that they feel same and go to one extreme or another. Maybe that is something that is missing in today's society? Just my opinion
That's the way I was taught. A plus I recognized when I was young was that I had a whole lot more pretty chicks to chase than some of my friends....the dumb a$$e$.

When in high school the white kids where the minorities, I had friends of different races , we taught the kids the same they had and still have friends of different races and the conversations NEVER turned to race in my house . It saddens me to know that some are turning these cases into a race war. The kids are looking at us for the answer and we don't know it.

Maybe we need some humor in this thread. My wife and I were visiting my mother. She started telling us about a TV show she was watching....it was in part about bi-racial marriage. She turned to us and said 'it just dawned on me that that's what you two are'. We had been married about 35 years at that time and she finally noticed.:smt043Um, ya' Ma that's what we are.

Good for your Mom Woodyman!! My wife and I have many friends that are Bi-Racial and our discipleship pastor and his wife in our Baptist church in NC is bi-racial. Beautiful couples and wonderful kids. I don't see any verses in my Bible that teach against the subject either.

I have enough trouble keeping up with the things that are clearly written in the Bible than to spend time supporting things that are not.

We have employed both white and black folk since we moved here. And it truly is not the color of a persons's skin that matters at all but it is the content of their character. We don't care if you are black, white or have yellow polk a dots if you are a descent respectable hard working law abiding citizen that's all that matters to us. I just wish everyone else would think the same and stop all this stupid race $#!! from media and politicians etc. All of us need to work together to stop these awful acts, and move this great country forward in the right direction for a change.

Great post BritLady, I just supported (very vocally) making an offer to an African American over 5 whites due to his great personality and technical knowledge. (you need both to be a good trainer). I want the best on my team and he his that and more.

I would trust him with the keys to my car and house.

I see another officer in Florida has been killed by another crazy, this is ridiculous.

Ollie, It's easy to get pulled into the them against us grinder as this is what race baiting is. There are some at the top that make me look like a choir boy. I have no malice for any race. It's the actions that make folk who they are not their color or religion. (Militant Muslim exempt)

I work for a company that has built a reputation on equality and inclusions. My God does not see color either only actions. Again I apologize if I come off as racist but no matter what you voice someone will pull the race/religion card on you.

OldSkool - Absolutely No need to apologize. You didn't come of as a racist - to me anyway. I was just trying to explain how I see things in our current situation. On one hand you have these "groups" that want racial/financial/gender/religious/whatever equality and then theses same groups lump US citizens into categories....Our Gov. does this verbally and with taxation / benefits.( we can have a different discussion on militant muslim) That was all I was trying to explain - sorry if I came off as accusing you of being a racist...

Our son is a proud officer down in Pensacola, FL and this stuff is frustratingly driving him and his coworkers crazy, especially his fellow officers of color - us as his parents too.
It's not the major player with these issues but he's been telling us law enforcement budget cuts are not helping things either with lack of, or outdated equipment and reduced officers on patrol.
God bless all Officers in service or fallen.

Attached is a video he shared with us that tells it like it is with many of the issues "responsa-damn-bility" - well said:

Very well said Mrs Brit.

I just worked a call last Friday night and the card was slammed down in our faces as we worked the call. One was getting treatment faster than the other. We tried very hard to explain triage and as she was walking around fussing and screaming and the other was pinned in the car. So I'm afraid my comments here wouldn't be very well worded

I am from Moncton, New Brunswick Canada (boat out of Shediac next door) and have been in law enforcement (corrections) for 28-years. We lost 3 Members of the RCMP last June in Moncton from a crazy gunman.

I have just read every reply to this thread. I can tell you over the weekend like all of you was sickend by what I heard and it got worse when the one officer's son (only 13yrs/old) wrote about his love for his dad. We talked a lot about what is going on. So what I write is just MO.
I believe none of this would have happened had it not been for the Furgeson issue. Brown doesn't steal the cigars then there is no reporting to the police by the owner which clearly shows him pushing the owner around. The officer doesn't respond and have Brown go after him. There is no dead body in the street and there is no uprising in Furgeson. No buring of business of people who didn't do anything to deserve that. No Al Sharpton there to rasie money for his tax burden and placing the blame on everyone else except for M. Brown and his family. There would have been no Mr. Brown insighting a riot b/c M Brown would have known that stealing is wrong. That going after a police officer is wrong. E. Garner would be alive had he just listened to what the officer had told him. But he had been through it so many times he just knew how not to do what they say. Had POTUS not said what he did people may have just looked at it peacefully. Instead they took his words and rightfully so and acted wrongly by marching, calling Police Officers names and then rioting. The USAG spun is program that mirrored POTUS' program. Even when the Grand Jury said no, in both cases, those two and Al didn't like it. Now a person from Baltimore is mad at his girlfriend, kills her, posts to going to kill some Police Officers, does it and then kills him self and does this all in the name of Garner and Brown. All I can think is had Garner listened and Brown not stolen - None of this would exist today.

How completely true! I think we have a winner of a statement there, thank you Searaybio270!

"Today, I will not answer the radio call that your boyfriend has come home drunk and is beating you again. Today I will not answer the radio call that your 16 year old daughter, who is very responsible, is four hours late coming home from school. Today I will not answer the radio call that your store has been robbed or your house has been burglarized. Today I will not stop a drunk driver from killing someone. I will not catch a rapist or a murderer or a car thief. Today I will not answer the radio call that a man has a gun or tried to abduct a child or that someone has been stabbed or has been in a terrible accident. Today I will not save your child that you locked in a car or the child you were to busy to watch who went outside and fell into the swimming pool, but that I revived. No, today I will not do that.

Why? Because Today I was killed by a drunk driver while I was helping push a disabled car off the highway. Today I was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop to simply tell someone that they had a taillight out. Today I was killed in a traffic accident rushing to help a citizen. Today I was shot and killed serving a warrant on a known drug dealer. Today I was killed by a man when I came by to do a welfare check because his family was to busy. Today I was killed trying to stop a bank robbery or a grocery store robbery. Today I was killed doing my job.

A chaplain and an officer will go to a house and tell a mom and dad or a wife or husband or a child that their son or daughter or husband or wife or father or mother won’t be coming home today. The flags at many police stations were flown at half-mast today but most people won’t know why. There will be a funeral and my fellow officers will come, a twenty-one-gun salute will be given, and taps will be played as I am laid to rest. My name will be put on a plaque, on a wall, in a building, in a city somewhere. A folded flag will be placed on a mantel or a bookcase in a home somewhere and a family will mourn.

There will be no cries for justice. There will be no riots in the streets. There will be no officers marching, screaming “no justice, no peace.” No citizens will scream that something must be done. No windows will be smashed, no cars burned, no stones thrown, no names called. Only someone crying themselves to sleep tonight will be the only sign that I was cared about.

I was a police officer."
