Just received this email.....

We received an email from our Dockmaster yesterday that the facilities will be closed indefinitely including fuel and pump out. He along with the owners are elderly so I can understand the decision due to their higher risk level.

Pierpressure1,

I'm sorry to hear that about them closing indefinitely. If you would like to come down to us, you are more than welcome. Might be able to get you even into a covered slip..

I talked on the phone yesterday with the guy who owns the marina and that works on my boat. He's open for now but they don't have a lot to work on. He comes and goes throughout the day because he has his son there to take care of business.

With spring coming quickly I suspect they'll get real busy real soon.

We are planning on launching a week from Friday. I had the bottom blasted and barrier coated at Rappahanock Yachts this winter. If the shut down looks like it will extend past April will have to seriously consider moving down river to you.

I got an email yesterday from our marina saying they were sticking with their schedule but requested that all business be done by phone or email to limit exposure for their employees. I am scheduled to go in on April 1st and can't wait as I also plan to self quarantine on the boat :)

Our Yacht club is closed indefinitely pending advice from the local department of health officials. The SF Bay Area is virtually closed for business unless you need to buy a gun or pot!
I teach at a local college in a hangar away from campus so we are allowed for now anyway to keep holding classes as long as we practice social distancing.
Strange Times for sure.
Carpe Diem everyone

I saw a email today from SafeHarbor that said business as usual.... talked to the yard and they are launching boats now... I am due in 2

I would think they are highly leveraged, what else you gonna due.

My bad, did it wrong.
Last 2 lines mine.

Highly leveraged.
You think?.. they said that employees that are sick or think they are sick will get full pay....
I just can’t figure out how they do it....and they are still investing and growing

Same thing in the coal industry a decade
Ago. When it dries up it’s ugly. However you can buy at pennies on the dollar.

They have to meet covenants on the money, when they don’t the strings will tighten.
Actually I was kinda amazed when I googled them. Same BS. All expert
Folks in BS.

I work for a contractor to the Dept of Energy.
We are, and have been for years, crammed in tight quarters. The dept I work in services the whole site of what I heard is around 9000 people.
We interact with a lot of people on a daily basis, and the govt hasn't taken any steps to change anything.
So, all this social distancing thing our state and federal govt keeps talking about is pretty much a joke.
It's a, do as I say, not as I do kind of thing.

We are members of a boat club so we are non-profit and we currently have one employee. Boating season is still a month away. I hope by then things will have calmed down by then. We are going to "maintain our social distance" by hanging out on our boat. Looking forward to it.

I have a boat under contract in Ohio, which has essentially been shut down, so not sure of when I will be able to complete the deal or if there will be fuel along the way home. I am here in WV where the only case is in the Eastern panhandle near DC, so really nothing yet in the main part of WV. Our governor is shutting everything down here as well, so left to be seen how things progress into the season.

If you are talking about getting fuel at gas stations for the tow home you will have no issues. If you are talking about fuel on the river where is the boat?

Actually referring to diesel on the Ohio river. Looking at a 44 DB, so won't be towing home.

Our marina remains open. Just got a notice that the clubhouse won't be serving weekend brunches for a while, but other than that it is business as usual. Going up this weekend, so it will be interesting to see if any of the boat-in restaurants in the area do take-out.
