We just purchased a 2000 340 Sundancer and it has nor radar or chartplotter, never installed, only a old Raytheon GPS unit.

We are going to e using the boat n Northern California primarily in the Sacramento Delta and in the Bay on occasions. Have a budget of 2500.00, I was going to go with the Garmin 74XX series but after looking and touching them I m not real impressed with the quality.

I have also read good things about the Simrad Broadband system and thinking about the NSS8 Sport Chartplotter Nav pack (with the 3G Radar $1999.00

Any guidance and or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I like the Simrad/Lowrance products for their Superior sonar. The Garmin is going to be more user friendly. You likely would be happy with either. I would say Garmin if you mainly are cruising and Simrad if you do a lot of fishing.

You might check out BOE marine, they sponsor this site and are very helpful.

Welcome aboard!
