Good morning all. This is just big shout out and "thank you" to all the past and present contributers to this family of fellow boaters. This past weekend I had a few minor issues while out on the water. While trying to deploy the anchor, I found that the windlass control didn't work, no power, nothing. (kicking myself because this is the only thing I overlooked checking before splashing this spring). Quick inspection of the relay down in the engine room showed heavily corroded ring terminals and fuses. Removed the relay, took it home and basically rebuilt the relay connections, all good. Back to boat Sunday morn, re-install relay, test windlass, still nothing, damn. Anyway, couldn't continue with troubleshooting as we were meeting folks on the water for the day. Great day on the water. However , on the way back to home marina, Smartcraft alarm goes off, shows water PSI low, engine goes into "guardian" mode. All other vital signs are good, so I limp back a few miles thinking the sensor must be bad. Not a big deal, but none the less troubling. So, I know I'm getting long here, but,,,,,yesterday morning I log into CSR and do some searching around for some posts regarding both the windlass and PSI issues. What I found was an amazing amount if info on just the problems I was having. Hoping it was just a bad PSI sensor, I found a new one locally. Well, back to the boat yesterday afternoon with both Son's, 5 minute replacement of PSI sensor and waalaa, all good, yeeeesss ! Continuing with the windlass, I found some corroded spade connectors on the large relay up in the anchor locker. Quick cleaning and dielectric grease on connectors and waallaa, windlass I working like a charm . All good .....
Anyway, my overall point is, having become a member of this site has been great ! A huge "Thank you" to everyone that contributes your knowedge, comments , experiences, and overall comraderie. It was a huge help being able to access
the great resourses that are available here. Moving forward I hope to be able to contribute more to this great community. Appologize for being so long winded, but just wanted to share my thoughts !!!
Take care, be safe out there.
