hey folks any thoughts what this is from? I can’t see a leak but it’s clearly a leak of some kind. Any recommendation on cleaning this area including the alternator?

Looks like salt water leaking on it

I agree. Are the engine raw water or fresh water cooled. Looks like salt water being sprayed or leaked maybe from above. Check hose connections and clamps. I would remove that alternator for service or replacement.

If your raw water cooled, the circ pump is leaking and spraying salt water around the engine compartment. If your fresh water cooled ,your raw water pump seal is leaking and slinging salt water using the serp belt.

Are your heat exchanges mounted up on top there. If so, check the clamp end you might have a slight leak with a little dripping down the hose and it's falling on the alternator.

So I'll take another view than mention above. Yes it's white and it appears to be salt but ill bet not. I believe thats aluminum oxide as your paint is falling off too. A form of corrosion. Use a small brass bristle brush to remove the buildup & loose paint and then wipe the part down with a wet rag. Spray merc high heat black paint around the area to help stop and prevent again.
Being in Orlando you up against High humidity on cold engines where the paint has worn off can cause this. Like a cold soda can sitting in the sun.... Especially around dissimilar metals like bolts and housings and alternators you'll find this reaction. I know this sounds aufull but if you really want to know if its salt or oxide then taste it. Oxide has a acidic and bitter zing to it? Then you'll know. Have a glass of water to rinse and spit. LOL...

PS the back side of your serpentine belt looks worn as you can see the supporting threads showing thru.

i'm going with salt....you can see signs of rust in the pics so looks like this has been an issue for a while...
