I think there are a few folks on the board planning to go to Bimini with the June 2-6 Bahama fling (also some going over for Memorial Day). If you are trailering to Ft. Lauderdale I found that the Harbour Towne Marina has boat ramps and charges $8 a day for truck and trailer parking in a secure site. They are about 4 miles south of the Bahia Mar resort. I called the 15th street ramp which is closer but they are not really set up for long term (more than 24 hours) parking.

Dockage for my 26' SR265 at Bahia Mar is $56 plus electricity, may be cheaper at Harbour Towne or 15th street (they did say they have dockage available).

Looking forward to the trip and meeting fellow CSR folks. Here are phone numbers:

Bahia Mar marina: 954-627-6309

15th street ramp: 954-828-5423

Harbour Towne Marina: 954-926-0300

I'm hoping to go over Memorial Day with the group here, and also going back on the June 24-27th Fling back to Bimini Bay...

We are going on the Fling to Grand Bahamas on 16 - 20 June - Anyone else going on that trip?

FYI - Another boat ramp and launch is a 45 minutes North of Bahia Mar. I have enclosed the write-up that I did on my last cruise below. This is a nice site to launch, and store your vehicle (7 day limit) - plus on the way back it is very close to an inlet (quick out).

See Below --- Let me know if you have any questions:

We will be launching from Alsdorf Park, (Also known at the 14th Street Causeway Ramp in Pompano Beach). Parking appears to be adequate, and costs $5/day (vending machine). Parking is available for up to 7 days.

PLEASE NOTE - This machine does NOT accept credit cards. So, please plan to bring either $15 or $20 in cash to put into the parking machine.

The cruise from Pompano Beach to Ft. Lauderdale Beach should take less than an hour. We toured the ramp, and took pictures. The only concern with the ramp is that the very long trucks and trailers may be a little long for the parking spaces (again, see the pictures). The parking spots are about 50’ in length. I have a picture of a truck with Sea Ray 280 that fit in a parking spot (with a trailer that looked a little long around the tongue).

The ramp does have a “pay” self-service pump-out (it’s only a $1…and no one to tip!). This ramp has bathrooms, and two lanes (and fresh water) for flushing after you pull your boat out. Again, check out the photo’s at:

The ramp is located about 2 miles off the expressway. Going to the ramp, there is not a good stop for gas between the expressway and the ramp. If you are going down I-95, there is a Flying “J” Gas Station at Exit #131 that should work well for boats and trailers. There is a gas station leaving the ramp (between the ramp and the expressway) that would probably work for most rigs.

Launch Location:
Alsdorf Park
2850 NE 14th Street Causeway
Pompano Beach, FL
954 786-4111

There are three bridges that we should pass under between the ramp and the Marina. They are listed below, but all are listed at 15’ high, so most should not have any trouble. Please check out the info below:

Have fun. he grand bahamas trip should be fantastic. Have a great time and let us know all about it when you get back.
I'm going on the 23-27th to Bimini (Bimini Bay)

PS for those that are going on the 2-6 to Browns and are not staying on their boat, the hotel is directly above the band stage, so if you have noise canceling headphones or ear plugs I strongly suggest you take them.. One of the reasons I'm going to Bimini Bay the next week is last year we stayed there and for us on the boat it was fine, but for those that had to stay in the hotel, they got no sleep the whole time... just a heads up..

I went back and attempted to unclick the requirement to sign in. However, with this free service, Kodak Gallery likes to require folks to sign in.
