We are only a couple weekends from the July 20th Lake Wylie Rendezvous. Hopefully we can get a couple of the other Southeast members to make the trip out for a fun day on the water. Always good to get to know other local boaters. Who is in???

As far as I know, I'll be there. Was an island ever decided on? That Botanical Garden island is about the only place on LKW I have not been to so not sure about depth there. The island I posted on the other thread has 12-15 feet as I recall. Personally I would prefer the one I pointed out since I am familiar with it and I know it is not stagnant or shallow water but would not be opposed to the other as long as there are no depth issues or problems getting my arch under that 279 bridge. Also, there is always the "hot hole" up past Harbortowne Marina under the bridge (next creek to the East of the Garden viewable on the other thread). There is a big nice open area up there we could go.

unless something unexpected comes up we are in......location and time are not an issue to us...just let us know what works best for the group....

we are new to group raft ups....we have just rafted with a single boat before....i want to be sure we are properly prepared...i have 4 fenders, plenty of dock line, and a single 8 lb fluke anchor and rode....do we need to bring anything else?.......

i just spent $1400 on new hull decals and stripes and want to try and protect them as much as possible....

Definitely going with your spot.....

We're in! Which area will we be going to? I've seen a couple of places mentioned.

Thanks,
John

Just a note, the East side of the island is a little shallow. As much as the lake is up right now, it probably wont be an issue for anyone but just wanted to let everyone know the approach from the West side of the island is deepest. The spot I marked is usually about 12-15 feet deep. I will try and get up there this weekend and check it out. I have not been up there in over a year since I am on the other side of the lake now but we used to tie up with people in there quite a bit a couple years ago.

Also Casey344 has said he will be there as well. He has a Regal now but I told him he would still be in good company!

Okay, I we were in the area behind that island the last time out, and many times in the past. We either anchor there, or down near Daniel Stowe. Depths looked pretty good - I've seen lower. Just watch out for the stump heads on your approach.

Hope to see you then.
John

Wish we could join, but are hosting our boys church group on Keowee that day. Have a safe and fun event!

OK, we are less than a week out. Sounds like some can make it and a few will not be able. What time is everyone thinking about trying to be there? I am sure everyone will have other things they will be doing on the lake Saturday but thought we should probably come up with a time range so no one misses everyone else. Since we are closer now, maybe we can get another head count on who is coming as well?

we are still in....i am not sure about our friends...probably won't know for sure until later in the week....we are flexible on the time to meet, so whatever works for others is OK with us.....

EDIT: just found out our friends will not be able to join us this w/e......

We are in as well. We were thinking of arriving at the lake around 10:30 but are flexible as well (subject to fork-lift hours of course). Look forward to seeing everyone.

Sounds good Wesley. Do we want to say meet up about 11:30 then and people can just stay as long as they wish? I know I will have to head out early afternoon to take care of some other things. If this does not work for anyone speak up.

Has anyone talked to Dave S would love to see him at the event? -- Wesley

I have. He wont be able to make it.
