Jones Beach Air Show

There he is! Ighty cool. I just ordered the remainder of my maint parts and chemicals and ill b done and ready for the summer by the end of next weekend!

Greg, you're bringing slushy machine? Oh crap, now I'm starting to run out of excuses.

So what's the plan Captain Ron? Is majority arriving Sat AM?

Are we staying Sat/Sun/Mon in the anchorage or shall we try do something similar we did last time and go to someplace else for one night? Any ideas other than the Nautical Mile?

He could tell you but then he'd have to kill you!!

But then I wouldn't b able to bring it for him cuz I would b dead!

Alex I thought u weren't able to make it? . Ill b arriving sat am. As for other options. Is really not Woeth leaving zacks. The only other safe and calm anchorage area is nautical mile as u know and hemlock cove but that's the same as zacks just different location.

Yes, original schedule didn't look good, but I've made some changes and looking to attend the event, actually hope that I can even start Fri night and meet up with Greg by Statue of Liberty. We may have few other boats coming from CT, including Larry.

Do you guys think that 70'er Pershing will have enough water and room in Zach's?

Unless the owner of the Pershing wants a VERY expensive tow bill I would suggest he stay away from the State Channel. I'm not thrilled with the prospect of heading there with my boat. I may take the new CC on Saturday morning and just stay for the day.

X, I just use Friday's mudslide mix, and add some extra rum and a bit of chocolate syrup.

Alex, That sounds great. We can get a head start on the party... Would Larry be joining us Friday night as well?

Hanging in Zack's for the weekend sounds ok to me.

Brian, Has the channel gotten worse in the past year? I know it's always pretty shallow, but we always made it without too much trouble.

Brian,

I'm not sure where the state channel is. Are you saying that coming from Jones Inlet and follow the magenta line (and of course markers) won't give us enough water under the keel?

I don't recall having issues in that section, but a lot could have change after Sandy.

Looks like there's only one trouble spot posted:

"The actual channel is well south of the marked magenta line as indicated by buoys G19 and R22. There is less than 5 feet of water where the chart shows 20 feet."

.........

I'll know a bit later how many and when the other folks will be coming. If Kenny (on Pershing) will join us, then I think him and Larry will do the run Sat am.

If no other exciting options to spice things up, then by all means I'll be happy to extend my stay with the gang at Zach's. Too bad Ben is not coming, we could have used his boat for photo-shoot with locals in the cockpit.....LOL.....Got to love Freeport.

I come from the East, which has issues. You should be fine coming in JBI, depending on tide. I'm not so sure about a 70 foooter though.

That's great. I think he can raise the drives a bit, but I'll clarify his min draft.

The only comment I have is I don't think there is any way the pershing will fit in thenarrow shallow entrance yo zacks. I'm nervous every time I thro ugh with my boat. Very happy everybody is coming tho!

That would be the one place I would be nervous for him as we'll. The entrance channel is fairly narrow. The draft of the Pershing should be ok for the area, particularly at high tide. I believe that boat has surface drives, which can be trimmed up, if I remember my boating magazine write ups correctly. I would also suggest keeping to the west side of Sloop Channel when passing near G9 marker. There was some shoaling in that area last season.

Yes he does have sUrface drives. My main concern is his beam. The channel entering zacks is not that wide. He may even be wider then the point were u first hook the right coming from the west. ..? I get real close to land with more that Much room between me and the can and me and the marsh. Would b very interesting to watch
