Jl audio M 7.7's or Fusion 7.7's speakers in cockpit 340 sundancer

My .02c installed 2-770's. 2-650's, 1-10" sub all JL and a JL 600/6 amp it will blow your mind how loud and clear it is . EVERYONE thinks it's a $7000-$8000 system. My local audio installer/dealer (I didn't buy from him) tells me Wet sounds isn't even in the same ballpark they even skimp out on packaging and he gets more call backs than any other brand for disappointments.
this is my second boat with this set up and letting friends hear it sold another 4-5 set ups. Sorry JL /fusion are top dogs right now.

What kind of power are you running to your sub? I am debating about weather to use a bigger multi channel amp to power all the 6.5's and the sub or to use a smaller multi channel amp and amono block amp just for the sub.

If you want top quality sound, go with JL no questions asked. I have 8 JL M770's in our 240 Sundeck and it is 100x better than the 8 Fusion speakers in our 27' Regal

Bottom line, i have a 600/6 and bridged the last 2 channels for the sub.

Ok Getting another Estimate From somebody else now, these guys have been in business since 1988 in the Miami area, keep you posted ... I ain't paying $4000 for labor , on a job that can be done in 20 hour, did they go to law school for this ?? $4000 / 20 hours= $200/ hour ? This was my first estimate just in labor...

2nd estimate for labor to install head unit, 2 amps and 9 speakers came to $1200 from experienced marine installer... I am buying equipment from him also at very fair prices... Much much better!

If you are investing in a high end system you need a preamp. Highly recommend Audiocontrol EQX Gray. It will fix your signal before you amp it up.

I thought about that , thanks for the recommendation...

I'll second this. Worth every penny spent on it.

2nd estimate guy not showing up still, i guess too busy with summer so got estimate #3 from a "Top 100" installer in the nation:

Labor $1000
parts ( he matched best prices i found online)$3700

very knowledgeable guy ,
going with 3 pairs of 7.7 M Jl Audio 1 pair 6.5 M jl audio 2 10" jl audio marine woofers, 2 pxd 5 ch Alpine marine amps, and fusion head unit Ud 750 linked to my new Garmin 741xs gps (so i can control syst thru it ) ,also remote at helm ( wired) and fusion link network so i can also control the audio thru a fusion app for Iphone up to 100 ft from the boat as he explained, he mentioned no need for eq or audio processor since the head unit has a processor built in... He promised this set up will sound loud and crystal clear... Any comments or suggestion as long as they are constructive will be highly appreciated ... Keep you posted ... And thanks

Has anyone had any experience with Wet Sounds as I received a proposal recommending SW 650's or 808's?

Gave 50% deposit today , but swapped the alpine amps pxd 5 by the 2 Jl audio 600/6 amps as per recommendation of this thread and my installer ... 2 year warranty on all parts and labor ...

Plenty. The 808 is a huge speaker with tons of output. If can be installed as a grill mounted coax or a remote tweeter component setup. As long as you've got the depth, you cant go wrong with the 808. The 650 is a great performing 6.5" that will handle some serious wattage.

How close in proximity would the 650 and 808 be to each other? With the right amount of power, the 808 will consume the smaller 650 is close. Also, if running more than a single pair of 808, you really need a 12" sub with some serious power. A mild 10IB is going to struggle to keep pace.

Are the 700/5 jl amps a better fit for my set up ?, running 4 speakers and 1 sub per amp?

I have a 600/6 JL running 4 speakers and bridged the last 2 chs for the sub works perfect i dont see why you need 7 chs

yep, spoke to my installer,he wants me to stay with the 600/6 which is,as he says, a more versatile amp ....

Thanks again

Whole system is finished and sounds super clear and loud , but when I move towards the swim platform the loudness kind of fades away since I have only one speaker aiming the back , hence I am adding 4 more 7.7's speakers around cockpit table and an M600/1 that will be feeding the 2 existing Jl 10" subwoofers , and the 2 existing m600/6 will now be feeding the 12 7.7 speakers for a better all around sound , some might call me crazy but if I was not 100% satisfy , this last addition will sure do .

Problem now,

my installer is having a hard time finding a good location to install the 4 speakers 7.7's in the back area where the cockpit table is... Debating now on using 7.7 tower speakers( pods) but where to install them so they r not in the way?? Any ideas ? I know skunkman put a pair of these somewhere in the arch , sent him a pm already...
i need ideas please, dont want to put them in the transom area.
please help.

Back when I was in car audio competition, there were "brands of the month". All were good, but those ones were using drawing higher dollars to purchase. Often times "lesser" systems won! I'm not putting down any brand, each has its merit, if you like JL/fusion etc, great, it's good equipment. But there are many, many good pieces of equipment that are 1/2 sometimes 1/4 the cost, that sound excellent, but you don't have bragging rights because it's not the flavor of the month.

When I say execution, design and proper tuning is more important than any piece of equipment, I mean just that. Proper installation and attention to detail is worth more than the equipment, I'll bet your installers would agree on that.

Back then Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, PPI, Soundstream, Phonenix Gold were the names and many more. Many of these are laughed at today, but believe me they were great in the day. Honestly, many lines within these companies are still great. SeaRay is now installing Rockford Fosgates in new boats...

The point is, enjoy what you have, really, it's about the music and our boats and getting two of them together!

Rockford has some new stuff out in the Marine lineup. One of the VPs over there is a friend and he has his hand in all the new product they are rolling out. They're striving for high end stuff right now. I'm either going JL or Rockford for my upgrade. For certain I'm using the 10" JL woofer, it's the best free air sub out there. But I'm likely going with the new Rockford stuff for the rest 2 pairs of 8" speakers, 1 6" pair. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/pm282x and one of the 5 channel amps for power http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/p1000x5

I just don't know where to put a second sub though, I don't want to lose any storage and under the back seat seems to be the only location for a second sub.
