Was gonna hit up Tolchester this weekend, but figured we'd check out Jellyfish Joel's. Looks like a place where we can anchor for the day at the beach. Can I walk to the tiki bar? Just looking for suggestions.

Thanks!

is it possible to swim across the inlet? too much traffic? don't have a dingy.

and what are the pilings i see around the the tiki bar on aerial view? just to keep boats away?

The pilings are for a marked off swimming area.

I wouldn't swim across as the current when going out of the small inlet is CRAZY fast. It makes coming into Fairlee Creek really challenging especially when two boats meet head on and dodging a body in the middle of all that would make for some really interesting verbal exchanges :)

Some go fast boats raft up at the small dock. We've anchored and kayak'd, SUP'd, or took the dinghy in.

Swimming across the inlet would not be a great idea. Lots of boats going in and out, very narrow and a strong tidal current. I think the pilings you see are the floating buoys that mark the swimming area for the beach.

Great feedback guys. Thank you very much. Great information.

So, without the dinghy, would you suggest Tolchester instead?

Were you going to JFJ to party or just hang out for the day? We boat out of the Bush River. So we head to Still Pond near Churning Creek. Back up to the sandbar and love it. Water is always moving, unlike FC/JFJ and we have a great time there. I have only been to Tolchester one time. I liked it. You can pull right up to the shore with your boat and anchor it. Saw that while there. Either is good. Tolchester is really good I heard when they have a band. Food is ok.

wanted to chill out in the water/beach and have access to food/hydration.

I've swam across it a couple of times, but only during slack tide. I would never attempt it with the current running out for fear of getting half way home without the boat...

Tolchester is a great place to hang out, especially when they have a good band. The restaurant is all the way in the back of the marina if you go looking for it.

There is a nice beach to anchor off of in Rock Hall as well. Look on Google maps for "Ferry Park". I like to anchor there and call the Rock Hall tram for a lift into town to hit a restaurant or pub. Half the time the tram drivers pull off before you can pay them. Can't tell you how many times I've stepped off the back of tram holding money out to the driver only to have him pull off without waiting for the money. I tried to give it to him as I boarded last time. He wouldn't take it, and then drove off as soon as I stepped off at my stop. Rock Hall says their tram revenue has been exceeding expectations, too...

Was just at waterman's the other week. Never knew there was a tram and the town was good to explore in. Good tip!

Been to tolchester before but just to dock and eat from the bar. There's a restaurant? Just blowing my mind skibum!

Couldn't talk her into picking up a tender. She doesn't want to go that badly.

Tolchester has music Saturday and Sunday, they have a tiki bar on the beach, food at the beach and a resturant in the marina, they have a pier to tie up to or rent a slip for the night. Headin that way today spending the night.

Was out at tolchester today. Will be there tomorrow too...with a much bigger anchor this time. Not too hot at all actually. Weather said feels like temp 107, but couldnt tell in the water.
