Here in Chicagoland we are expecting another 6"-12" of snow this evening and tomorrow morning. That is on top of 4-6 inches we got Super Bowl evening on top of the 8 inches we received a few days earlier.

Not bothered by it as I just looked at the calendar and realized it is only 85 days till launch!
That is if I don't decide to go in early!

This weekend will be a trip to the heated warehouse, turn on the tunes, open a few Miller Lites and make funny engine noises. (I really think that is what makes storage owner nervous)
Maybe even start polishing.

Oh well, get snowblower out and pull the cooler and CD's out of the closet.

Best to all!

How the hell I ever ended up in NYC is beyond me. I can't even look at my calendar without getting depressed. Last year I dropped it in too early, this year I'm trying to hold off a little but I'm fearing i'll go postal.

It's 81 degrees at noon today in Bonita Springs. My plan is to wax and polish this weekend and then go for a nice afternoon ride. Waves 2 feet or less, should be perfect. I'm not trying to make you feel bad, but you should know that there is a lot more maintenance when you can boat 365 days a year. :smt043

We're getting teased here... 6" of snow late last week, then 70+ over the weekend, now it's raining with another chance of snow tonight. The weather here is all over the place. Last night we even had tornado watches.

I had troubles getting OUT of Chicago last Friday and troubles getting back in Monday morning. It BETTER be G R E A T weather when I fly home or I'll just stay home and never come back!

I shoveled snow drifts off the roof on Sunday. I've never done that before. We have about 2.5 feet on the ground and more expected today in Spokane or Snowkane as we call it! THEN it's supposed to rain and melt. YUK! I dusted the snow off the boat, sat in the seat and made motor noises through my lips. It's a customary thing and makes me feel like I'm back out on the lake. Can't wait!!! Only two months to go and we'll start getting ready!

I've gotten my taxes done and we are down to the last cord of fireplace wood. Next week end we will start working on the boat.

While you northern folks are suffering thru your 6-12 inches of "partly cloudy" (that's how we would refer to snow storms when I lived in Ohio:smt043), I think global warming is affecting our lake down here. We were out on the boat today and the water temperature was 60 degrees!! That's almost unheard of at this time of the year.

I feel you pain in Chicago.. But, north of you up here in Wisconsin we officialy ended with 18.5" this dumping. At this point not sure where we would put more if we got it. I remain sane just knowing as we finish ski season flowers will be pushing up. By that time we will have had our first round of maintenance clean up done on the boat. Come On SUMMER!

This has been a great winter. We picked up 10" of snow yesterday and it looks like a Christmas card outside. Our slips are frozen in and various creatures are trying to hang on waiting for the ice to go out. The eagles are hanging out in our Oak trees "looking for opportunites." Spring will be welcome this year.

All the snow will hopefully bring the water levels up a bit. They were down quite a bit over in Lake St. Clair by the end of the season. We only reveived about 2-3 inches yesterday after rain/sleet/snow mix turning to snow.

The corps of engineers weekly lake level report has us down on Lake Michigan/Huron about 9-12" from a year ago at this time and forecasts stable levels for the next 30 days. That was prior to all of this precip. The new levels will be posted next monday. We are still about 4" above the all time low in the 60s.

Cool post.

Please keep us updated on that level (if you don't mind).

I have had the same thoughts with respect to all this recent rain/snow, especially the stuff coming down in the upper Great Lakes. Makes for better levels for all of us lower lakes guys next spring/summer.

This info is readily available. Just Google "u.s. corps of engineers lake michigan water levels". The site was just updated and says the lake is up 3" in the past 30 days, having gone up in January, which is unusual. It is projected to go up another 1" in the next 30 days. While it is down about 10" from a year ago, it will be at last year's level by June 2008. It attributes the rise to above average snow, run off and below average evaporation.
