Well that certainly not very good. Maybe Searay will break its ties with Marine Max. I pray for the day that happens!

...Right up there (or down there, actually) with Ford and GM.

Maybe Brunswick, too, can get part of a $25B loan to make hybrid boats...

Yeah, Boat show time will be interesting too. At least they don't have models like the car shows, because they'd be hiring the ugly ones.

See the new '09 Brunzwhalseabayridian Booth We've merged all of our brands, departments and development to better serve you....

Look at all the taxes they will avoid... Hope the next owner of SeaRay and Bayliner will not go the cheapy route... been there done that... :smt013

I'll bet they are not the last to go either...

That's pretty scary. It would be very wise to use an escrow agent for a deposit on a new boat right now and not write the check directly to a dealer or Sea Ray...

That's a good idea Gary. It sure would make negotiations interesting.

Maybe if they break up Brunswick, buyers will again get a choice of engines and electronics. just like in the olde days. Don't want a Mercruiser? OK, we have Volvo and Crusader in gas or Cummins, Volvo, Cat, Yanmar, etc in diesels.

Sounds good to me.

Best regards,
Frank

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
Brunswick goes belly-up, sells off SR.
New buyer structures buyout so it does not assume any liability for Brunswick's warranties.`

Possible? If so, who's going to spend a few hundred thou on a boat who's manuf may go out of business and leave them without a warranty?

Stock price was at 22.95 a year ago ... now 4.32. I wonder who will buy Sea Ray if Brunswick is busted up.

You are assuming the brand will survive. Some of these builders will simply disappear. Given the economy and the biases of the next likely administration, boats will become largely unaffordable for most people due to the costs of operation and the costs of credit.

I hear Obama owns a Tiara though...

I heard he won the tiara in an early 80's *Deleted* beauty contest...not that there's anything wrong with that...sorta like the beauty contest he's in right now.....with a much bigger prize at stake.:smt021
