Italian Cruise Ship Disaster

Right now I’m watching a documentary on the Nation Geographic Channel about the Concordia disaster.

It’s made with a collection of videos from the passengers’ cameras. The images are scaring as is scaring to hear the yeoman say “I soon realized we were too close to the coast”.

The loudspeakers were saying it was just a problem with the generator but everything had fallen down, red wine all over the tables at the restaurant…

I hope they will broadcast this documentary in the USA, do not miss it.

Pietro, I'm just cracking up thinking about how a guy in Italy knows about Captain Stubing and the Pacific Princess!

The Love Boat was super-popular here in Italy, as were Starsky & Hutch, Kojack, Three’s Company, The Jefferson, Happy Days, Different Strokes, Colombo, Family Ties, The Chips, you name it! That’s what we watched in the eighties…and my favorite ever: Miami Vice!

Watched it last night on the on the DVR. Really crazy the way the Concordia went down. The part with the coast guard yelling at the captain was insane.

This is sad, the Pacific Princess will be dismantled! It has been just sold for 2 billion euros to a Turkish company that will take it into pieces.

The Love Boat was lying in an Italian yard but its owners, Quail Cruises could not pay for the refitting… and no one was ready to pay for that. End of the story.
Here a few pics form an Italian site. I found nothing about that on the international press.

Yes, it's still there. They have emptied the tanks and anchored the hull to the bottom of the sea. Now it seems they will try to put it afloat again and tow it away...

Yep....Carnival Triumph. Being towed to Alabama. It's her third failure/mishap. We have had plenty of fun on Carnival so far. People forget these are diesel/electric boats with no real backup motor. I'd sit on deck and read a book and enjoy the tow.
