Looking for 510
Engines
boatless
Well, after many weeks of planning and finally able to do a sea trial on a 510 Sea Ray I had to walk away. I may not be a Sea Ray owner yet but I still enjoy reading all the Sea Ray threads.
My search continues. :(

I hear you. Searching for the next boat these days can be really frustrating. Good luck.

You rarely hear anyone ever having remorse for passing on a boat that wasn’t right at the time. On the other hand you hear all to often the sad stories of those who pulled the trigger on the wrong boat.
Yours is out there

You’re not alone. I recently sea trialed / surveyed a boat and had to walk away. Found a ton of mechanical and electrical issues, plus just lack of upkeep. It was very disappointing, but I found a much better boat! It can be a roller coaster, but keep looking!

I know what you are saying about finding a different boat but I really think if the broker would have done his job the sale probably could have been completed. The seatrial was a $hit show from the start. I traveled 15hrs for the sea trial, hired a captain, had my diesel engine tech there and my boat surveyor there. The boat wouldn't even start due to bad batteries. It was well after lunch before MY mechanics (that I hired for survey) finally got the boat running. Both oil pans leaked, one engine overheated and one engine was way down on RPM. So after all said and done the broker sends me a bill to the tune of about 2100.00 for launch fees and dock fees while boat was in the water.
What a joke.

You would think he was selling a cheap bowrider. :) I just could never understand how a seller/broker can't even make sure the darn thing starts before everyone wastes their time.
