Hi All,
if you want to take your bike along how would you? is there a bike rack for a boat....how do you do it if you do it at all.... post a pic or 2....

On my 300 DA I used a car bike rack, attched to the transom... I am sure it would work on my 340 too... Bungee cords work too. Just cover the bikes with a trap to prevent the salt spray from damaging the bikes...

Some people with larger boats secure the bikes to the bow rails. It might work for you as well.

Did you try doing a google search? Anything came up? I wonder if there's something standard.

Have you seen some of the folding bikes? It might be an option that's easier to bring along on your boat.

This is what I did on our trip to Canada.

I will be heading out to Cape Cod now, and I will do the same thing.

I put pipe insulation around the bow rails (to prevent scratching). Then just bungied them to the rail.

Spray wasn't really an issue, but I was sure to oil everything good.

Oh sure Mr. Big Boat ......nice set up.

This is great with a bridge but I wonder how it effects visibility on a cruiser .

Yes, there is a boat bike rack. Check out the Boater's Bike Rack. A great streamlined, sharp, easy to use solution for taking your bikes on board. See Boatersbikerack.com
Our bikes hold fast in foul weather and heavy seas.

$80 for that!!!!! I believe I could make something cheaper.

I was expecting a real rack. What they sell can be made for $10 or so.

Yeah, we did the pipe foam and bungees also-- it is cheaper, but it looked like it too! We like that it gives us a ship shape look and matches our canvas.

O.K., now most of you gave me crap about a way to hoist my pet aboard my sundancer and I see no smart comments about mounting bikes on a cruising boat, what is wrong with this picture :smt021

Bel mar pointe, you didnt have a port. gen. strapped to a rail behind the bikes, did you?

Yeah, right, I have never seen a bike strapped up to a side rail of a cruiser, house boat, yes, but a cruiser, no. Where I live we like to anchor on a beach or a secluded cove. bikes/ motorized bikes are left at home. I guess some people are dock queens and only travel dock to dock.what a boring life and waste of a cruiser.:smt021

Things you can do with a bike and not a pet pig:

1. Look normal
2. Ride it
3. Tie it to the bow rail while in heavy seas (that's debatable)
4. Lift it over your head
5. Go boating with it

Things you do with a pig you can't with a bike:

1. Eat it
2. Have sex with it (so I hear)
3. Roll in some sh!t with it
4. Feed it garbage
5. Make PETA love you

... Come to some real water like the Great Lakes, where there are actual cities you can go to, and then we'll talk.

Or an island. Riding around Lake Erie's South Bass Island or Kelly's Island on a bike is a fantastic way to tour the islands.

What you mean you can't ride on a pig?

Let me inform you that in minnesota there are over 12,000 clean, fresh water lakes that I can go besides the river and besides owning a slip on the river,I do own a trailer and a truck to haul it anywhere.:smt021

I have a cousin who has a big beautiful sail boat. They have these collapse-able bikes they use all over in the Bahama's. I would REALLY appreciate this not turn in to a PIG WAR.
Yes we do alot of backwaters. Not because of our our pet pig. But because of the congestion of the river where we are at. And well because we can!!!

I've been to Minnesota... you have 12,000 lakes with no salt in them... "clean" and "fresh" are not words I would use to describe the rivers there. Lots o' farms and the pig do do has it's way with the water table there last I checked.

And what do you mean by "it"?
