Is there not any 500 sundancer owners on here

Hello All. New here and trying to help find out some information for a family member with a 2004 Five Hundred.

We are updating the original cockpit stereo, and are having a heck of a time finding the amplifier that came from the factory (Clarion Head unit with 4 cockpit speakers and a subwoofer). Has anybody performed this upgrade, and do you recall where the amplifier was mounted?

Thanks in advance!
Dale

It is in the compartment behind the back cushions of the forward facing salon couch. I relocated it to the compartment under the seat cushions of the same sofa for easier access and better cooling.

Would love to hear what sort of price it sells for....

Well, finally made it to see the 510 now that it's back in the water. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement! She was dirty (I can get over that), needed a good compound and polish, the teak decks need to be sanded and sealed (and repaired in a spot), showed a lot of corrosion in areas I would not expect (beauty rings on gauges), had holes for speaker wire right through the dash and deck, cockpit vinyl was horrid, interior wood seems to have been wet or just too much moisture inside so it cupped, carpet in forward stateroom was disgusting, the engine room was a disaster (even though the engines looked decent), rusty water in the bilge, a missing pump of some sort forward if the port engine, couldn't get the lights in the ER to work, lots of high end stereo equipment that seemed shot, etc. the Admiral really liked the layout at least! There are 2 in SoCal but they both have 3196 CAT's in lieu of the 3406E's this one had so I'm not so sure I want to bother with those (Frank?). Overall, I have to say the owner should be embarrassed. How do you list a boat in this condition when you have the means to maintain it? I hear they have a captain run it while entertaining clients? Sad...

Resurrecting an old thread. Putting an offer in on a 97 500DA today. Happy Father’s Day

Fingers crossed for you! We've been through the ringer 3 times now over the past couple months. Finally closed the deal on a 1991 480DA. Going to be a few weeks before we'll get to enjoy her... Paint, shipping, paperwork, etc., more stressful than buying a house!

Still waiting for that 480/500DA official thread for these 'nearly classics'.

You are so right about the stress of buying a boat... It's what keeps me from moving up and it's been 5 years now since my last buying experience, I'm not ready to go through it all again.

Well offer accepted pending survey and engine inspection

I was withholding my congrats until now, lol. The market seems crazy right now with low inventory and a sudden surge in demand... Congrats!

We totally lucked out, pending survey of course. The awesome at his job broker who couldn’t even make it to the showing, failed to mention that he had taken a deposit on the boat before I drove to see it. So apparently this guy put a deposit sight unseen. He was coming the day after I looked at. Wasn’t until I called the broker that evening to initiate the offer that he tells me this. So I think we’ll this is over because the boat looked so nice. New guy came out and he apparently has only captained a 22ft ski boat prior. So after taking a ride with the owner he called the next morning and said he is way over his head. Owner called me directly and we have a deal.
Hopefully it passes survey in about 10 days.

Congrats! We have had ours for almost a year, love it. Been making a few repairs/upgrades. Some anticipated, some not. Headed toward the keys and beyond next spring. Glad to see some life back in this thread.

Anybody know what ever happened to @Steve500dancer? He used to be a staple around here with witty and informative posts.....

I found this interesting today when we pulled into the marina. A 500 with a hard top. It actually looks pretty good in person

We actually looked at that boat. Thought it was cool but didn’t like the head room at the helm

Well boat didn’t pass survey. Lipstick on a pig so to speak. We did find another but haven’t pulled trigger in offer yet.

Like that hardtop, Thought it was custom made but seen it on a couple 500’s now. Wish that the hard top is still in sale.

I am still in love with the 630SSS and specially the model with the hardtop.
The 630sss has a length problem for us and that’s why we choose for the 500.
When you build a hydraulic platform, the 630 will hit the 22 meters loa. Way to big for so many harbours.
But look how beautyfull she is...

I thought the same thing ... I have only been on one with the factory canvas... I wouldn’t think the hardtop would work

It looks that the hard top has simulair model as original canvas and I can tell you that you have a perfect view and till now I never had to open the canvas to put my head out for a better view.

Well here we go again. Survey on a 95 500DA this time. Sounds like this one may not have a cored hull per SeaRay. That would certainly help as the last one had huge sections that were delaminating (like 15 ft section of hull)

Good luck and share us the result with some pictures (when you have).

I have a 1996 500 DA and need help locating the windshield washer solenoid. The water keeps flowing to the windshields whenever the water system is pressurized. It appear to be stuck open but I cannot locate it.
Does anyone know how to access the switches and gauges since it may be located somewhere in that area since it is close to the location of the washers?

Hello Glenn, under the sink in the galley you open cabinet and you see a panel that you can remove with couple screws. Look there and you find the solenoid.
when you ever want to seal the washers and like to know how to access them look true my posts, I explained that with photos etc.
Good luck
