A couple years a go, I went with a friend. He had a 17' center console. We putted around and came across what looked like a open spot..had cleats etc. near the Long wharf Marriott. Took us 10min to walk to Fanuel Hall.
is there normally places to park a boat, or would I only find a spot at a restaurant on the water?
which...will lead me to a whole new thread.
im getting my first boat soon and am trying to get a handle on where I can go and dock the boat temporarily.

Nick, ask other boaters in your area or in the area you want to dock at if it's OK to dock there. If it's not OK, they probably will tell you where to go.

Boaters are VERY helpful, especially for someone who is a new boater someone who is new to that area.

You can also do a search n The Hull Truth forum, I recall a thread about this from last year in the northeast section.

Other than a dinner cruise and a sailboat delivery to a private mooring I have never boated in Boston Harbor. That may change this summer but no plans yet.

I cruise the harbor regularly. There are lots of places that offer hourly docking-marina bay, yacht haven, constitution marina; to name a few. I would suggest active captain. You can also hail a Harbormaster as well and ask where their is public docking.
