Hello,

I want to install an in-hull fishfinder transducer in the engine room of a 2001 Searay 310 Sundancer. Does anybody know if the hull is made of solid fiberglass? (VIN=SERT) (according to the installation instructions, the transducer should be mounted in a place where no coring, flotation material, or dead
air space is sandwiched between the inside skin and outer skin of the hull). Ideally, it should be mounted well ahead of the propellers and shafts, close to the centerline, so do you know if the hull at that area is made of solid fiberglass?

Thanks

Don't install it right over the center line though. The fiberglass is very thick right at the keel and the shoot through will not work well. Off to the side by a foot or two is much better. You will want an adjustable angled transducer like an Airmar though unless you don't mind inaccuracy. Also don't install it aft of a water pickup inlet as you won't get clean water and it won't work well.
