Irene... stay the hell away!

Glad you guys made it through unscathed. All the rest of the boats at your club OK?

It appeared that most all of the damage was to the docks: missing planks, separated finger piers, and one large bow - in docked boat had knocked its electrical service stand off. The only boat damage that I saw was a tattered bimini top.

Glad everyone was able to enjoy the show with beer in hand and not too much to worry about.

Well.....the boat made it threw a direct land fall hit -not a scratch on her -the new floating dock system handled the storm surge beautifully...Now for the bad part-my neighbor went down to the boat for me right before the storm hit to remove the cockpit cover and never latched the center windshield back........ you guessed it --it shattered the port side curved glass section . When I saw him today... all I could do was thank him for taking the cover off
Marine max claims you have to replace the whole port section -not just the glass

We have been through the windshield replacement thing with the 280 and yup its all or nothing. A couple of things to make sure you do when you order the new parts. There are two types of canvas attachment on the 280. One uses a rubber gasket that gets jammed into the top rail of the windshield. The other type uses what are called Vadney clips, that are plastic plugs that fit into the groove in the windshield rail and then the snaps are screwed into them. The rail looks identical, but the dimensions are different.

The two are incompatible. And here is the crappy part, Sea Ray does not know which which boats were built with Vadney clips and which were not. Our 02 280 was built with them and we have the boat to prove it. But when the replacement windshield side arrived it was for the rubber gasket type canvas. SR to this day has insisted they had sent us the right parts because their parts manual says that our HIN was built with the gasket type canvas. Fortunately, Taylor Made was willing to help out and came up with a fix.

That part will fit, it is also about 1/10 the cost of a part from the dealer. If it is the wrong type for you you may have to get a new top rail from Taylor Made.

I just got the power turned back on... We had just swapped out the wardrobe and were going to start wearing 1600's era Indian garb... and smoking funny sh!t in a pipe.

I hate hurricanes.

Oh yeah.. it is really expensive to generate your own power.

Boat was put back in the water yesterday.

Just in time for the next storm to hit.

I hear ya....costs me $400 a day to run my whole house genny. It's like having a land yacht, but you don't get to go anywhere :(

This is the boat that dragged its mooring. The first pictures shows the Tiara on its assigned mooring. we have two point moorings so normally things are fine. Our boat is the one on the far right. These were taken Saturday evening after everything was tied down for the storm's arrival on Sunday early AM.

This is how things looked midday on Sunday

It dragged between our boat and our dock without hitting either one. We were able to corral it and secure to a couple trees on the river bank.
