Anyone started thinking about an action plan for the upcoming weekend? It's only Tuesday and these hurricane thoughts are consuming me already... going to be a long week.

If she stays as a Cat 1 for Sunday/Monday I'll keep the boat in the slip and take down all the canvas... Cat 2 I'd rather not talk about that.

IPP...Sit tight......You know what has happened over the last few years...Not to say it wont hit us, but my guess, winds in the 40 knot range and if you are in a protected marina, you should be okay.....

Yeah I know... still a long shot. Just keeping the fingers crossed.

Now we got earthquakes too! What is happening...

Right now they are predicting Cat 2 or a Cat 3 with winds of 120MPH. If you look at the models, 4 out of 5 predict 100MPH and 1 out of 5 predict 120MPH. They also keep moving the track further and further east as at one point Orlando was in the cone of death but has since moved out. Hoping it doesn't move back west towards us though.

Latest looks like a direct hit on outerbanks and then Chesapeake. My marina has already doubled the lines for me. If it gets to look bad, I was thinking of having it pulled but not sure if that is more or less safe. The marina does not have ground takle to hold her down. Thoughts? :smt017

Jack do you plan on removing all your canvas or leave it up? I figure it will hold up to 75-85mph maybe, anything more not sure how it would do...

That's a good question. I just replaces the uppe enclosure last year. Was expensive. Depending on what I hear tonight and in the Am, I was thinking of going to the boat and wrapping some tie down straps over the entire enclosure but leaving it up.

Boats are waterproof, or should be anyway. Remove the canvas, it will not withstand 75 or 80 MPH winds with gusts higher than that and with water pounding it from the hurricane. Not only will you destroy your canvas, the frame will be torn off as well.

I'm not sitting in the best location! Glad the boat is on a trailer - now to keep the trees off it! Otherwise, I'm stocking plenty of beer and testing the house generator - should be an interesting weekend.

Don't forget that your insurance will pay 1/2 or more of the costs (check policy) to safeguard your boat in a named storm........

I'm planning on doubling up lines and removing all of my canvas. Im debating whether to leave the Tonneau cover on. It fits tightly on the boat. Any thoughts?

Angled antenna not only looks cool but will streamline the boat so the winds go right around your boat!

Take off the cover...it will get shredded...and the snaps will leave nasty gashes....,happened to me during Katrina on my 220 Sundeck! (yes Katrina hit first in Miami!)
