Does anyone have a newish (within the last 5-6 years) searay with an inverter? I'm interested in knowing what brand searay uses (I think they use xantrex) and also where and how they mount it.

Thanks

John

Short answer is no. I'm curious to know what you're looking to power with an inverter? In my experience running any real/serious AC loads only really works from a genny.

We did not install one, but SR is (was as of 2015) using Xantrex. The inverter and batteries fit nicely in the crew quarters .

But where in the crew quarters? Specifically on a 2013 or newer 350.

I was being facetious, which didn't translate well in writing. Sorry. I have a 65' boat and the spot SR uses is literally in the small crew cabin off the swim platform. There is really no corresponding space on your boat, except maybe a small trunk.

If you are considering installing batteries in living areas (even sealed batteries) you must have them in closed containers with overboard venting. A better choice would be in the machinery spaces, but you must make sure the inverter is ignition protected On a gasoline boat.

Can you expand your thinking on that statement of "Inverter Ignition Protected" idea! And How that's is accomplished with an Inverter installed in the Engine Compartment On any Gasoline boat?

And just how does one make it Ignition "protected"?
