This weekend was the International Off Shore Race (Blue Water Off shore Racing) in the St. Clair River, the race was along the shores of Port Huron Michigan and Sarnia Ontario a co-ordinated event between both our great countries.
Sunday was the actual race and I was lucky enough to be a point boat to help control traffic in the area. I brought my camera gear and borrowed a 300mm f/2.8 VR lens for the event. Here is a few shots from the event:

Nice shots Dan! You must have been on that Sea Ray Motoryacht? I think I'd get a little queasy looking through a telephoto lens that long on the water!!

This was a good event, but it would be nice to see more boats entered in the races. Hopefully it will grow each year. We watched them from my dock neighbour's flybridge in the marina.

Thanks Jim, we were just outside Sarnia Bay. We had a couple meetings and were instructed that no-one was allowed in the bay area or even on the other side of the fence on the public viewing area, the OPP and RCMP will take care of what ever situation arose but it ended up a bit lax. All in all it turned out good.

Any kind of boat racing is fun to watch. Thanks for sharing the pics and story of the race. Here's a toast to its future growth and continuing success.

Thanks, my understanding was the turnout was over 40,000 and the race crew was very happy with the course so things look good for the future.
It's always great for the community and it's helping both sides of the border.
